Lower exterior window trim removal diy

Hi i am new to the honda prelude society had my lude for a few months now and im am slowly but surely bringing it up to spec with a few mods here an there. My problem now is the lower window trim on the driver and passenger side it is hideous i cant stand to look at it anymore. I am trying to figure out how to remove it without screwing up my paint and my automatic windows any advice or links would be helpful as well as cheap honda parts place i can go to to buy the belt w' strip.

Re: Lower exterior window trim removal diy

Check ebay, or go to a local Advanced or Autozone. Only other option is a dealership, but you'd honestly be better off just redoing it yourself..

the part i am talking about is called chrome piece thats covered with black material that starts cracking on older preludes think its called the belt w' whip or strip i rather do it myself then go to the stealership and pay 300 dollars to replace both.

click the link I posted above. look up the parts, and buy them. I'm not going to search through the site and spoon feed you.

Re: Lower exterior window trim removal diy

Take off your door panel and the side mirror. Roll the window down. You will see the white clips that hold it in. Start on one end and pull up. The new ones come with replacement clips on there, so don't be afraid to break the clip. After you get one, the rest come off easily.

This is something you can definitely do yourself. It's one of the first things in restoring my Prelude. Well worth the money. I put some protectant on it after I installed so hopefully it won't crack from the sun again.

Re: Lower exterior window trim removal diy

I pulled mine off stripped them with aircraft cleaner and resprayed the top side with rubberized fender covering from rustoleum. Looks as good as new .. about a 12 dollar repair
