Re: Whats this knocking?

Could be a number of things:

tensioner on it's way out

spun bearing

bent valves

or you're in desperate need of a valve adjustment

Nah it stays the same throughout, but I dont lose any power, Im not overheating anymore, and it isnt doing anything except burning a little more oil than it used to. It only smokes when I start it for a few minutes but its coldish where I live lol

Re: Whats this knocking?

you need a valve adjustment. that sounds exactly the same as my h22 did when i got it, popped the valve cover off, saw a valve spring bolt was missing from one of my intake valves got another one to put on there, adjusted the rest, and no more knocking. had a bit more power too. you can do the adjustment yourself, all you need are feeler gauges, a special wrench/screwdriver tool, and a service manual to tell you were the pistons need to be when you adjust each valve.

Re: Whats this knocking?

Awesome. Thank god, I had a mechanic friend tell me the noise was because a valve adjustment, but the same friend told me the day before that it was a headgasket lol. Guess dope does that to you lmao.

But yeah, thank you for that, would i need a torque wrench or anything or nah? Im pretty sure I got most of the parts for this so hopefully I can get this done within the next couple days. Will this cause any damage by driving it like that?

Re: Whats this knocking?

not really, maybe less mpgs. when you take it off and you see 1 or more valve nuts completely missing as 1 of mine were, then pray that its safely stuck in your oil pan (i just found my lost nut as i was taking apart my block the other day haha) a torque wrench isnt necessary but its a good idea. make sure you get a small one, a big one that goes up to 150 foot pounds is too big for the job and you will almost defiantly break the stud if your not careful, then your f***** up even more. otherwise your good to go. just make sure your doing the adjustment right.

Re: Whats this knocking?

Get the numbers and research how to do the adjustment its kind of tricky at first they give you two numbers for each side in and ex. I did mine a while back the first # of each set I supoose to fit snug but the second # its not suppose too? Correct me if I'm wrong but look it up

you can buy another but if you dont find the old one and its bouncing around somewhere in the valves that could be an issue
