Suspension for the '01

So I love my lude, but she just needs to be more down to Earth, so I got her this.

KYB gas shocks and adjustable springs. 300 bucks off a dude on Craigslist. What do you guys think?

Wise words welcome.

I'll post pics when I get 'em installed

Re: Suspension for the '01

^awesome response. care to elaborate?

GR-2 are a stock replacement basically. if you're looking to get any more performance out of it, you probably won't i guess it depends on what the spring rates are.. but 300 bucks is a good deal for all that. if you're looking for just something lower, that's a perfectly fine setup.

Re: Suspension for the '01

I have some Illuminas and skunk2 coil overs just chilling in my living room. I am concerned about lowering it without a camber kit. I only plan on going 1 inch in the back maybe 2 in the front. Ive read on the internet that the prelude doesn't "need" one or something like that but I am still on the fence about that because they sell the ball joint type..? I dunno it just doesn't make a lot of since to me because when I lowered my Integra it was in DIRE need of a camber kit.

Re: Suspension for the '01

Thanks for the feedback.
I forgot to say that this ride is my DD and I'm just looking for a lower, more comfortable drive. I'm not gonna hit the track and redline till I blow a rod.. Maybe I'll do that when I got money to throw away. For now, I'm just looking to damp out all these damn Baltimore potholes. So yeah, comfort is of the essence, but I did hope I'd get at least some performance..

As far as comfort and maneuverability, would you really say the shocks are just "stock replacement"? There's gotta be at least some improvement.. Don't shatter my dreams!

Re: Suspension for the '01

yep. at least that's what their website says. as for being a MORE comfortable ride... i wouldn't count on it. those springs are no doubt stiffer than stock. how much, i dunno.

I'm on Tein S Techs (1.3") and an alignment was all I needed to fix my camber.

if all your bushings are in good shape you can go pretty low with a prelude without camber issues .. my car is lowered 2.25 front and 2.50 rear and my camber is on the edge of factory specs .. the trick to not wearing tires is a good alignment rotation ever other oil change and keep the tires balanced .. i have 10k on star spec tires and plenty of tread left .. i also have checked the alignment every other oil change when i rotate the tires .. now my 93 that was on tein flexs that was dumped needed them but it was also lowered 3.25 front and 3.50 rear ( slammed ) the ingals adjustable uppers did the job just fine ..

oh yeah lowered cars on stiff springs in baltimore suck . watch out for the roads that the center sits up an 2 inchs higher than the tire grooves do .. lol .. i live north of baltimore and i avoid the city as much as i can ..

During the week, I cruise down the same road to work and I know pretty much every pothole, crack, and crevice so I manage alright.. Lookin' to heighten those weekend days when I open her up down these curvy roads on the outskirts of the city though, I live for that..

To be honest though, I'd love to avoid the city. Take today for example, went to buy a mattress and not was I driving on two uneven concrete layers cause they were doing roadwork, I ran into one of those motorcycle gangs.. Literally like 80 kids just rollin' around in 150cc's blocking traffic. One of 'em even stops to say what up to the guy in the car in front of me waving to thru traffic to pass by.. forgot why I moved here from Cali..

But yeah, I live north, west, and east of the ghetto (nice area), north of downtown. Under the wire reppin' the Charm City!

Actually if anything they're a little on the stiff side. I have the Tein's paired with Tokico blue's and I don't find it bouncy, damn close to stock ride wise.
