Icon7 Pics of my Type-S intake install...

After a bit of a wait I've started the build on my 97 SH. The thread after I bought the car is Picked up a 97 SH for a steal... I just finished up on the rear main seal replacement and installed a ACT flywheel and clutch for good measure. I debated on getting the V2 but in the spirit of keeping this car as stock-looking as possible I bit the bullet and ordered a Type-S instead. The install couldn't have been easier and I'm really pleased with the results. I also threw in a K&N filter for good measure.

Since the clutch is in the break-in period I couldn't really get on it for my test drive but the low end seems improved in 1st and I did notice a different "rumble" to the engine noise in the cabin. No header or exhaust yet, this is literally the first bolt on mod after the clutch/flywheel.

To the folks on this board who steered me in the Type-S direction, thanks and I think I definitely made the right decision.

On to the pix:

The intake, all pretty in factory packaging.

K&N replacement filter... not cheap but worth the investment imo

Bone stock!

First step was to pull the battery to get more room to work. I may relocate it to the trunk later, but thats for another day..

Then removed the rest of the stock intake... EZPZ. One screw on the clamp and a couple of bruised knuckles but two minutes tops..

With the stock intake removed, time to slip the new Type-S sleeve over the throttle body inlet..

Then install the new K&N filter.

Assembling the rest of the intake outside of the engine bay made it easy to position.

At this point I installed the full setup and test fit everything..

I then tightened down both hose clamps, snapped the filter box retaining clips, and installed the battery. Done!

I'll be installing the front and rear upper strut bars tomorrow so I'll post some pix from that later. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Looks good.
You should think about cleaning up the bay a bit. Maybe a small wire tuck. :p

Re: Pics of my Type-S intake install...

Beautiful, love the type-S intakes. I have the V2 (have had it for 3 or so years) and I'm always debating on replacing it with the type-S. I just love how beefy the type-S intake looks. You made a wise investment my friend

Re: Pics of my Type-S intake install...

I had some time this morning to install the Tanabe upper strut bar... I took some time to raise the car and adjust the bar tension, then took it around the block and did some hard cornering. It did control the front end roll a bit and added to the already great feel of the ATTS engagement. Overall I'm pleased. Time for turkey!

Tanabe bar installed... had to move the wire loom next to the fuse box, but only a 20 minute install..

A better view of the whole engine bay.. tomorrow I'm pulling the valve cover to replace the cam seal and install the Skunk2 cams.

Not really car related but my fried turkey is da ****! Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving

You should get it bro! I'm glad you guys like it... I'm still learning the Prelude but like I said before, thanks to everyone here who reccommended the Type-S; it was great advice, and more to come. I'm having a lot of fun with the build.

Ya lmao. I should clarify--I want this 'Lude to LOOK as stock as possible (ie. no stupid aftermarket wings, no giant body kits, no neon, no window stickers, etc.) Anything under the hood is fair game though! I like a clean JDM look: slammed but functional. Carbon fiber where appropriate... you know ;-)

Re: Pics of my Type-S intake install...

A quick question for the Prelude gods... any thoughts on whether or not I should remove the resonator? I'm kinda leaning toward removing it but I'd like to get some input on it.

^^^ it was at least in Honda Tuning several years ago... I'd recognize that 4th gen anywhere.

Re: Pics of my Type-S intake install...

Pretty much finished up with the cam install today... also pulled the resonator out and the vacuum unit for it, also capped the corresponding vacuum port on the IM. I dont think I have the energy to mess with it much more today, but I'm thinkin about stripping the valve cover paint and doing some red VHT crinkle for a Type-S look. I still have three days left on my Thanksgiving vacation from work, so probably tomorrow for that.
