Decisions decisions....

Ok I've wanted a prelude for ever now but i could never find one in decent condition, and with reasonably low miles on it. So I JUST bought an 06' RSX Base with 94,000 miles on it. I like the RSX but I'd rather have an H22 anyday. I just went and looked at a 98' Prelude SH with 126,000 miles on it, its not as nice as my RSX but its in 'good' condition. Should I sell my RSX and buy the Lude which ive always wanted, or should I keep my rsx. The lude is faster but the rsx is cleaner looking no chips or dents ect.... I dont know what to do... any suggestions?

In my honest opinion, as much as I love my lude, I think it would be better for you to keep the RSX. Since it's a lot newer than the SH, the SH could possibly give you more trouble later on.

Re: Decisions decisions....

Keep the RSX. Less miles, much newer, most likely gonna run longer..

But its up to you. Depending on how much you sold the RSX for you could always make the prelude nicer but thats just more work and money.

Re: Decisions decisions....

I bought the rsx for 10K and the prelude is 6K.... So even if the prelude wasnt as nice as the rsx I can still sell my rsx and make 4K... maybe even 4,500

Re: Decisions decisions....

id say if u got the lude and put 4500 in it then it would trump rsx but if u dnt have the time or know how...keep the rsx, 120,000 is alot of miles and that is a good body style for sure

I think your crazy, you just bought the RSX, drive it a little and sell it when you wont lose money on it after adding miles to it, ie: Spring/summer. lol

I wont lose money I would come out even or even make a hundred bucks or so... I would definitely keep my RSX if it was a type S, but it isnt, thats why i'm considering the prelude... and is 126,000 miles on a lude that much anyways?

Re: Decisions decisions....

126k on a prelude isnt much to be honest. But I also would keep the rsx. The 05-06 rsx looks alot better than a prelude(imo). If you want it to be fast I would just boost it. Thats what I would do in your situation

Re: Decisions decisions....

Having had both an RSX and a Prelude, one thing that stood out the most between the two was how much more useful a hatchback was. I could put considerably more stuff in the RSX. In fact, when our tent broke, my wife and I just threw the air mattress in the back of the RSX and camped out in there. can't do that with a Prelude. However, despite that and the fact the RSX-S is a much nicer shifting car (manual), I prefer the Prelude. I like the way it looks, drives and the H22 motor is still to this day hard to beat (for a four cylinder…nothing beats a V8). If you still can't decide, go with whichever one is cheaper on insurance.

Re: Decisions decisions....

Boosting a Honda gets 500 thumbs down.

OP get or keep whatever car you KNOW you'll have more fun with. 126k on an h22 isn't bad at all.

Re: Decisions decisions....

I dont have enough $$ to do a k24 swap and trans. upgrade to handle the k24. And from what i've heard the rsx doesnt respond well to bolt ons so I dont wanna spend the money on headers, exhaust, cam gears ect...

Re: Decisions decisions....

You had that much money, and you didn't just buy a 4th gen si vtec? Really, you'd have enough money for all of the quirks that would arise. Don't get me wrong, I wanted an 00-02, in desert sand metallic type-s, but it was gonna be finance. That's a lot of money to say adios to. Kinda. Still in your driveway right?

I dunno, think you should bore out to 2.2, lol!

Re: Decisions decisions....

if i were you i would sell the rsx find a prelude shell and just do an engine swap. if you do it right it would be cheap and you would have money left over to fix any problems with the swap or even upgrade your lude. im in the prosses of this now and even shipped a lude from new mexico to idaho all in all im only in the car 2500 bucks for 1 donor car and a shell. just need the knowledge

Re: Decisions decisions....

I wouldn't waste the $ modding a base model k20. Even with ALL the bolt on's you can possibly get, you would still be way ahead in power with an h22, it would still be cheaper, and faster. Just sayin...
