Tiptronic Shifter Issue - slow acceleration

Hey so my '99 auto works well for the most part. I don't notice any issues with my tranny, but I did notice recently that when I place it into slap shift and I gun it, it doesn't go anywhere. Barley any rpm increase, just slowly speeds up. Any idea why? (besides autos being a trash, please, I already know aha)

Re: Tiptronic Shifter Issue - slow acceleration

idk why It would go any slower, or not go at all. if im not mistaken putting it in the "Slap Shift" just gives YOU the ability to shift instead of the ECU so it shouldn't affect speed or anything like that unless your shifting early maybe. this may or may not be helpful, but check your oil. usually when I get close to a change and VTEC aint kickin in as hard as usual, my oil is usually low or in need of change. Hope this helps, someone please correct me if im wrong.

The thing is, I can have the pedal all the way down and move it back into auto (without letting off gas) and it kicks in and goes hard.

Re: Tiptronic Shifter Issue - slow acceleration

wait a minute.. just answer me this one question, i know it sounds stupid, but just answer it. the number on the gauges in the tachometer, does it show 4 when you're pushing the pedal to the floor with it in manual mode?

Re: Tiptronic Shifter Issue - slow acceleration

what gear are you starting in? do you "slap" it down to second?
because i know in my 4th gen if you throw it down in 2nd while going slow the acceleration is hideous..

Re: Tiptronic Shifter Issue - slow acceleration

There's just no get up and go in the upper gears, cause it's not what they're for. They're for cruising. If you slapt it over after you've already started driving, then you'll probably have to slapt it down to get power. The automatic transmission is very conservative.
