Re: passing CA emissions

nothing OBDI will be able to pass if your state has to plug into the OBDII port for testing.

Re: passing CA emissions

^^^hrmm thats funny cuz my boy got his jdm h23a to pass smog a couple months ago. he said that if u put USDM manifolds on the jdm engine it would be close call but u would still pass. my smog guy said you can do a stock engine swap and get it bard( i believe that was the term he used) by a state ref. so legally youll have an engine swap. he said he had a hatch awhile back registered legally w/ k20 swap and he passed it the legit way.

or u can avoid all that and pay a small time fee to a certain smogger. im shure u can find a dirtysmog in the 209, start asking around in the honda community.

Re: passing CA emissions

and i just passed again last week. the recent law has to do with model years 2000 or newer and obd2. they hook up directly to the ecu instead of giving you the sniffer. so if you change out your ecu, you're hosed. otherwise, strictly speaking on emissions, there's no reason why the jdm h22a would not pass. hell, i'm living proof of it 11 years and going.

yes, the above applies to you. based on the questions you're asking... why do you want to swap to a h22a?
