Weird noise/Loose Alternator? Help!

So my cars been rattling again. I found a piece that seems out of place and is making the noise. I think it's on my alternator? Heres some pics. The last two pics are of the same place on my friends SH. Notice how mine is missing some sort of bolt on the side with the black piece and the other side has some thing sticking out. It rattles on the wheel/belt but is kept from falling out by the yellow/orange electric plug. How do I fix this?

Honestly, I have no idea what's out of place. Maybe it's because I have a 4G, but you should edit these photos and outline what you're talking about. We may be able to help a little better then.

Re: Weird noise/Loose Alternator? Help!

You're looking at two different areas.

The loose bolt on yours comes out right beneath the p/s pump.

The bolt you see on the SH on the LEFT angle pic is the alternator bolt which the alternator pivots on as you adjust tension in the belt. If your car does not have this, you should get one.

Can you move the orange plug to take the bolt completely out?

It's easy enough to unbolt the p/s pump (LEAVE THE LINES CONNECTED) swing it out of the way and further diagnose where that bolt goes.

Ok I found this diagram (Honda Automotive Parts) but it looks like the two bolts are connected? (Part 9 and Part 21) And how do I go about unbolting the p/s pump?

Re: Weird noise/Loose Alternator? Help!

Exactly what kinda noise? It could be as simple as one of the belts are loose and needs tightening.

Re: Weird noise/Loose Alternator? Help!

I had my buddy who drives the SH sit in my car and rev it while I watched the engine. Its a rattling noise that sounds like somethings loose. We discovered this bolt. We tried to push it back in as best as we could (the engine was hot) and when he rev'd it again, it shoots the bolt right back out. The orange electrical thing keeps it from coming all the way out.

Well if its falling out let the car cool off and screw the bolt back in. It looks like the upper alternator bolt or lower power steering pump bolt just tighten it up.....
