Just remember I'm new to Preludes....

What motors usually come in a 1998 base? I only ask because everybody talks about getting an H22 etc and mine has an H22A4. Should i be happy about this? I'm looking to do some serious work down the road, and I know boosting would involve sleeving the block. Other than that its cams, head work, exhaust, header, etc (in a proper order of course). Oh, and biggest of all, a manual swap. Is the H22A4 worth hanging on to? Again, forgive my ignorance and dont bash too hard. I did some searching with no luck. If i missed a link please share. I'm here to learn!

The 5th gen comes with the h22. You won't have to do all that for boost as long as you stay under 8psi.
If you have an auto then a 5 speed swap is recommended once the auto tranny starts to fail.

Post some pics of your ride.

Re: Just remember I'm new to Preludes....

The most desired H22 engine variant is the H22A; the Japanese Type-S engine, with ~220HP. Your H22A4 (1997-2001 Preludes) has roughly ~200HP. Apart from the Type-S H22A, the Accord Euro-R has a similar H22A; similar in every aspect except for the intake manifold, and other minor details.

Some people spend a great deal of money to swap their ~200HP H22A4 for a ~220HP H22A. I personally don't see the point, unless you've blown your H22A4 doing Fast 'N Furious stunts.

Go through with your turbo plans and call it a day (or year, lol).

Good to know. What's so much better about the Type-S engine aside from an extra 20hp? With a little machining and matching of the head and intake manifold and some new cams you could get more than 20 hp without spending all that $$ for a new engine. Am I right?
