Massive Oil Leak! Maybe Time to Quit!

Guys,

I sent me car for oil change last Saturday oily to notice that I have massive oil leak. I have been loosing a lot of oil lately but did not no know it was that serious.

The folks at the oil change gave me free oil enough to drive home.

I am not sure where the leak is coming from, where should I start from ? What are the know problem areas?

Look under the hood and under the car. If you find any surface really oily, try to locate where it is coming from.

In my personal experience when I had leak issues, it was either the vtec solenoid, cam seals, or oil pan.

Give us clear and well lit photos and I'll bet we can figure it out or give you directions on figuring it out.

Re: Massive Oil Leak! Maybe Time to Quit!

Just to clear things up is it a "leak" or are you burning a lot more oil because of an internal problem.

check what Cthulhuy said.

also if the leak seems to be coming from the back of the motor\oil filter. check the oil cooler o ring.

the distributer has a weep hole like a water pump and if the bearings go bad, oil will pour out of there even if u replaced the o-ring that on my h22 is right next to the vtec solenoid could that b it?

It is a leak, under the engine is covered with oil. The top portion of the engine is dry.

Re: Massive Oil Leak! Maybe Time to Quit!

That's the oil cooler O-Ring. Mine busted a couple winters ago. Drained most of my oil before I even made it down my street. Luckily I smelled the cooking oil and went home before it ran dry.

Hmm . . . !I will check the cooler O-Ring. How difficult or how much did it cost you to fix it. Did you use OEM part from Honda?

Re: Massive Oil Leak! Maybe Time to Quit!

It's a $5 part from Honda. It's not hard, but you need a very large socket to take the oil cooler off. I'm thinking it was like 32 or 36mm.

Re: Massive Oil Leak! Maybe Time to Quit!

btw also check the oil filter. one time, my on my oil filter the seal thats at the very top got stuck on the block. so when i changed my oil and put a second filter in, there were two of the seals and it just leaked like crazy. so i took of my oil filter and saw that the old seal from the old oil filter was still on and thats what was causing my leak

Re: Massive Oil Leak! Maybe Time to Quit!

Is that the VTEC solenoid? Take a picture of where the part came from.

If that's the case,
