engine struggle/ burning smell? please advise!

I have a 2000 lude with 150xxx miles and I'm not much of a car expert since I work and go to school so I'm just gonna lay down what's been up with my ride the past few weeks...

first problem is whenever I hit high speeds, specifically v-tec, I would get a light burning smell. maybe the oil? tranny?

second problem is recent. my car seems to start struggling a little bit from a stop light to speeds up to 45. It isn't too noticeable but I really pay attention to my car when I rev it up and notice the car struggling a little bit. it feels like it's losing power to accelerate or something.. everything else electronically works fine so idk wat it is.
please help?

if there is a burning smell it could b an oil leak check under where u park the car and i had leak issues with the vtec solenoid so check the top of the tranny underneath the soledoid for oil
