Base and SH Spare tire

Does anyone know why 5th generations have two sizes for spare tires? Base models come with 135/80/15 and SH come with 125/70/15. I didn't realize this until I already purchased and received the 135/80/15 for my 1997 SH. Can I use the bigger spare? Will it rub on suspension components or something? My car is lowered on Neuspeed race springs with Neuspeed/Koni yellows and rides on 17s.

Re: Base and SH Spare tire

dont be worried about that tiny spare tire rubbing on anything when you already have 17's on it and it works fine

Re: Base and SH Spare tire

Hate reviving old threads, but just in case someone is seeing this now and not knowing why its like this.
It has to do with the wheel speed sensor. Running the non SH spare may set the ATTS into limp mode and turn on the light on your dash. Nothing to worry about, just means the ATTS is disabled. You can re-set it using the jumper and turning the steering wheel when you replace the spare with a proper wheel.
