Re: skunk cams stage one or two

What makes you think you have aftermarket cams to being with? (unless the previous owner said it did...)

Remove the cam and measure the lobe. Hit up a search or Google to find a writeup or video with the step-by-step procedure. Skunk2's site should have listed the proper size you need to be looking for.

Yeah the previous owner told me all the things that are on the prelude, and I am going to get it tuned so just wanted to clarify what stage it was. Thank you. =)

Re: skunk cams stage one or two

Wouldn't the previous owned know better than just hoping a measurement you took is correct?

A good tuner would just need a baseline, so he could start with a stage one. Then he would fine tune it all for your specific car...

If you're getting it tuned - I wouldn't even worry about finding out. Just get it done, any reputable tuner can make the corrections.

Number 1 rule to purchasing a used "modified car - never trust a previous owners "word" as to exactly what modifications are done to a car. Even if receipts are there, there's no telling they are in the car without first inspecting it prior to doing more work.

For all we know, he could have removed them before selling the car - or they could be type s cams or something... If the current owner is not comfortable checking the lobe measurements than have a qualified mechanic do it.

Thank you for all your information :) I am hoping to get it tuned in a couple weeks when I get enough money, I guess I will just hope for the best. I just kind of assumed that he was telling the truth sense all the other mods were true. Thanks again

Just to verify that you have S2 cams, where the cam is exposed at the end of the valve cover (not on the timing side) it should say skunk2 on the camshaft, and most likely will have a part number that you can match up
