How do I remove this cover?

Hey Guys, I got another question once again (full of them)

I got a new oem plastic speedometer cover in the other day and I can seem to take off the black plastic cover that surrounds the plastic speedometer cover.

Some Guidance would be great!

LEDautomotive.com - Gauge Cluster Installation Guide

i think there's a clip on the bottom and try to pry it with flat screw driver but don;t forge to put cloth on it so it wont scratch anything

by the way what is DRL? I never seen that

Re: How do I remove this cover?

Take out the cluster completely. Not hard to do. Just follow ^^^ those instructions. Once you get the cluster out its just held on by clip tabs, pretty self explanatory.

And to 99preludeowner: DRL = Daytime Running Lights. Came standard in Canadian models (and probably some others too)

Re: How do I remove this cover?

That's a really great link, But i still cant seem to take the first piece off, I take the two screws out and it just doesn't budge... have tried to slide my screwdriver along the side to look for hidden clips but no dice. Maybe there is just a few clips I cant find.

Re: How do I remove this cover?

What I do is put the steering wheel all the way down and pull from where the rubber is along the bottom straight back towards you. First time taking it off might be a little tricky, but keep at it and you'll get it.

Re: How do I remove this cover?

Oggs, American DRL systems stink. Imagine a resistor that links into your emergency brake and just gives the headlights 50/55 watts so the lights do burn out. DRL have nothing to do with sensors and darkness. You can get the drl part from any gm c/k body from 95-99 and voilą. Honda/Toyota had drl add ons for other models, you had to go to florida and DRL states to get.

Good luck with the dash Daniel.

Re: How do I remove this cover?

Look in the DIY Interior section here on Prelude Zone.

There's a guide to both changing the gauge cluster LED's, and one for taking the bezels out for painting, that cover this.

Re: How do I remove this cover?

Guys no worries i just had to change the plastic clear cover, my old one was cracked. I am a amateur when it comes to cars, Still learning alot. If i had to do the electronics myself my hair would be grey by the end of it.

PS: Was the most frusturating 25 minutes of my life!!!

Just know that when you're ever tackling something new, getting frustrated never helps.

Breathe and think.
