ebay turbo.

i know theres a lot of threads about this. but since technology always gets better, the ebay turbos should be more reliable. I'm thinking of spending $3,500 MAX on parts, labor, and tune.

Now i would like peoples opinion. I'm planning to buy a $1,000 ebay turbo, upgrade some of the parts like the turbo itself. Pay $1000 for installation (cuz i know there will be alot of custom fabricating), and $500 for the final tune. I'l pay another $1,000 to upgrade some of the parts. And save up $500 to get a exedy stage 2 clutch with fidanza lightened flywheel.

I hope somebody can share some info and what they think on the ebay turbo kit. I don't plan on going more than 8psi.

I have a stock h22a jdm engine with about 80,000 clicks. The engine, however, does burn quite a lot of oil. I don't plan on doing engine work anytime soon... maybe when i get bored of the speed and want it faster and got the $$.

What are your inputs on the 2011 enay turbo kits?

Re: ebay turbo.

$1000 for ebay turbo setup and $1000 for upgrades to turbo parts.... just buy a quality turbo setup for $1800-$2500 and save yourself the worries.

oh and fix the oil burning issue first and check compression.

Re: ebay turbo.

search the net:

everything but a chipped ecu and dsm 450's.
Treadstone kit

chipped p28 ecu - $150ish
dsm 450cc injectors - $40-$100
both can be found on the web easily, honda forums, and on ebay.

have you ever installed any of them?

ive installed them on a couple of different cars and its just like any other turbo kit or turbo setup you do yourself. it needs some modifying, cutting, and welding. but do it right and they work just fine.

Ebay turbo.... it feels like rape just by saying it

Usually you can find some good deals on local auto forums in your area - shops that order in bulk and are trying to get rid if them.

Re: ebay turbo.

Turbo-Kits.com - 97 - 02 Honda Prelude VTEC Turbo Kit - H22
2800 bux. but if you still wanna go the cheap ebay route, do that and go to the junk yard and get a decent size garrett turbo for about a hundred bux. Make sure the shop has turboed a few cars, some people think that the oil doesnt have to gravity drain from the tc and will just put it on there with the cartridge upside down, then tell you your turbo is bad cause its leaking tons of oil. lol

I would never buy from a site that sells parts for the 2002 model Prelude. I've heard that's like some secret code for Chinese bull****.

Re: ebay turbo.

turbonetics has a universal kit on ebay for 1200 then just get a mani for around 150 to 600 depending on what you want and ecu+tune will be around 1000 then you have 700 left over to get injectors and clutch and possibly name brand w/g and bov, oil feed and return lines, down pipe and dump tube. Don't waist money on getting a ebay turbo kit if your not even going to use the parts.

Re: ebay turbo.

Sounds like a great plan. Try running 22 lbs of boost. Make sure you get something roughly the size of a gt35. I would save some money and tune it yourself with greddy emanage. I've never heard horror stories about doing it that way either.

It sounds like you have really done your research, you know, getting such exact prices and how everything you listed will be exactly what you need. No need to save for hiccups, because things go smoothly every, single, time. Just ask twokexlv6coupe. His worked perfect the first time.

What about internals? Aren't you going to need to lower your compression a bit? I'm no boost expert but I know stock H22+boost=boom. I would yank the motor and do internals then next year boost. Or do it all. My .02

6psi on the safe side, 9psi max - you are correct.

Re: ebay turbo.

i have a question that i have been wondering about for some time now.....

everyone knows (well almost) that H22 are high compression 180hp and F22 are lower compression 130hp.

my question is, why do people spend money to get a H22 just to de tune it with lower compression then turbo?????? why not just get an F22 and turbo that?? just doesn't make sense to me as to why that money is going to waste.

i'm no motor guru, but if you lower the compression of an H22 aren't you lowering the hp rating right along with it? do people just need DOHC VTEC that bad? I guess i'm not into the JDM mad tyte NAWZZ!! but unless your going all motor H22's are a waste. not dissing anyone, not trying to stir anything up just trying to use some common sense.

btw, does anyone have a dyno of a lower compression (de tuned) H22 without a turbo set up?

It does seem a bit counter-productive. Maybe VTEC makes a difference on lower boost set-ups.
