question about an ecu

a buddy of mine has a p28 ecu that has been tuned on his boosted b16 and i was wondering if i could plug it into my prelude (h22) and still see gains from it. (by the way i already have the obd1 jumper harness)

. . . . . . . . . .

To give you an idea, we hooked my chipped p28 to my buddy's b18b1 and it ran like ****.

Re: question about an ecu

a boosted B16 is nowhere even close to a stock H22.

Re: question about an ecu

the ecu will work for your car, it will start it if its obd1 but thats about it. If its chipped and tuned for a boosted b16, then thats pretty far off from a stock h22a. buy a new chip, make a basemap for an h22 and your good. If your gonna use p28 on a h22a make sure when your tuning it you disable the crank, knock, and o2 sensors.

Re: question about an ecu

The tune on that ecu is useless to you. You will find that even if you took a tuned h22 ecu and put it in your car it still won't run rite. The only way to do it is to have your car tuned. The ecu will work for you as far as you can use it to get tuned but i wouldn't use it to get around. Every engine is different witch is why you need your own tune.

^^^what he said

you will be fine with a tuned ecu but make sure your car is what the ecu is tuned on. will it work with someone elses? yes, but it wont run great. just get your car tuned it will be worth it. I gained like 3 car lengths from 50-125 from just my ecu and tune.

Re: question about an ecu

drive to the tuning shop with your stock set up, when you get it there then swap the obd2>obd1 ecu harness and throw the ecu in for the tune and your good
