Valves wont hold adjustment.

Just as the title states. I have already adjusted the f-ing things twice and both adjustments turned out great. But it will only last about 5 weeks before I begin to hear the valve lash tick along with the gurgley exhaust. WTF its hard to get them tight enough will maintaining correct valve clearance. Any suggestions.

Re: Valves wont hold adjustment.

No i didnt use the tool. But i managed without it and was still torqued it down while maintaining adjustment specs. I dont personally see the point of buying the tool if i could have it done for me for the same price as the tool. But i guess its worth it if i need to adjust every other freakin week. But I thought about it now and i realized that even though i let my engine sit for a few hours it still could have been lukewarm. I mean i could see how having it real cold would allow the metal to constrict when tightening so that when your engine gets hot and the metal expands it will be even tighter. idk

Re: Valves wont hold adjustment.

cylinder head temp per helms manual should be no more than 100'f when you do the adjustment otherwise all of your measurements could be wrong, its best to just let it sit overnight an do it in the morning
