01 prelude tips and ideas

I just bought a Honda Prelude and 01 SH. I use it as a daily driver and am quite content with the car as is. I bought it off a guy who had already had an aem cold air intake cat back exhaust and and a nice set of race headers. I have always owned american so my amount of knowledge when dealing with hondas. I am a mechanic so i can do alot of stuff but im in the dark as to what i should be trying to do or not do with my car. I want it to stay emissons legal and reliable but i would like to know some tricks and tips of how to improve my car and warning signs i need to watch out for. Im not in a postion to replace this car or its motor anytime soon so i have to baby it.

Thanks for the information
steven

JTC Customs short shifter. A little pricey but it feels so good

Re: 01 prelude tips and ideas

Your car with the SH factory performance package is for street use pretty much rolling perfection. The engine running at 91 HP/liter is like a horse being whipped pretty hard so for long life just keep it stock and try to make a point of shifting at 7k rpm so an occasional miss will keep you under the 7.4k rev limit. If your in to sporty on street driving ,don't skimp on the tires or you will be sorry.Buy the best set of tires you can afford. A great balance between long life and performance would be the Pilot Exalto A/S.If your hard core ,their other options available but with much less tread life. For more SH performance information ,check out my members ride page.

Welcome and grats on your new ride! Is your prelude a manual or an auto?

The SH Prelude did not come with a automatic as a option because it was a special high performance version.

Re: 01 prelude tips and ideas

Header, not headers.

Unless the previous owner did a V6/8 swap.
