What does this connect to?

I found this connector near my EGR and Intake. I have no idea where it connects or what its for. Any insight would be great.

Re: What does this connect to?

it's supposed to be clipped to the bracket supporting the intake manifold down lower.

I found it during my wire-tuck and from what i researched - it's an "extension for the ecu"

Started to pull mine out yesterday actually, but i'm going to wait until i have my new IM gasket until i finish.

it actually is important to have it with those plugs still intact. There's 2 of them if you look. 1 has the wiring that goes to your injectors. Can't recall what the other does. Either way, without those plugs in them, your car isn't going to start. They send the signals back throughout the whole motor so that everything works correctly.

I don't see it connected to anything on my prelude. Just has that blank looking cover...

Re: What does this connect to?

****for future reference****

Just because there's nothing on the end of it doesn't mean you need it or not - you don't know if it's spliced out of an already existing connector or if it has another dead end. Assumptions are useless in this case since clearly nobody searched about it let alone traced it out.

Now, I mentioned that during my tuck that I read about it being an extension for the ECU. Never said I was "positive", but that i'm in the middle of working on my harness right now so haven't pulled it out yet.

The capped harness in question is C117
look it up in the electrical guide...SpoonerTuner.com - Free downloadable Honda Acura Factory Service Manuals by HELMS
(took me all but 15 minutes to look this up in the electrical guide)

Pages 42 and 43 tell you about that connector. Nowhere in there does it clarify where the other end is.

also check page 203-2 and 203-9

Just by reading these - it leads me to think that the junction of C140 and C141 is indeed an extension from the ECU and can vary for it's usage - primarily for transmission components of either an auto or ATTS equipped 5th gen ending at C117.

I would pull my 140/141 and see what happens, but i'd rather trace it by hand to be sure that's where it goes. (better safe than sorry)

Unless someone is doing a tuck and is concerned about this - I suggest just leaving it alone and saving the headache.

Re: What does this connect to?

Alright looks like I'm gonna be doing some research into the exact function of this connector. Something doesn't sit right about a connector just hanging around my engine bay.

Re: What does this connect to?

Thanks lol

OP: While I was working on the 'lude today I pulled apart the middle of the harness and traced out that connector.

DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!! - lol it's a mess ... it is indeed an extension for the ECU, 4 of the lines go towards the 4 big connectors that come from the firewall and the rest go to misc sensors on the timing belt side of the motor. I guess it's just for when the car is on a lift - to get plugged into from below.

I'm not going to be fully re-doing my harness until this winter - so right now i'm just moving some odds n ends to get it running for an upcoming meet.
