Screeching sound

Hey since I've got my lude I've noticed a screeching sound coming from one wheel on the driver side. However, the sound stops when I push the brake a little bit. I don't know what it could be, do you guys have any ideas and/or how much it would cost to fix this?

Re: Screeching sound

first you should try to figure out what it is... brakes are easy. 9 times out of 10 you can fix that **** on your own. jack up the front end, put the car in neutral (make sure the e-brake is set too) and spin the wheel look, feel, and listen for the sound and figure out what it is. it's probably your pads getting low.. also possibly just a bent shroud that goes around your rotor..

I just posted for another. My '88 Lude(3rd gen) used to catch pebbles from gravel roads (fishing) and they would stick between the dust shield and the rotor. No noise going straight--screech like hell with only a minor turn of the wheel. Go to a parking lot--back it up at a decent speed and on-off the brakes. The pebbles would fly out. Never had the problem with my 5th gen.

I forgot, if it's a pebble, sometimes rapid back and foth on the steering wheel would dislodge it too.
