Tire size

Hello guys. So I currently have some Hankook 205/55/R16 all around and I`m having an issue with it rubbing when turning onto a ramp. These are my options but not sher which one to go with and need some opinions/help. Either just borrow some money and buy some new tires all around 205/45/R16Which looks better 205/45/R16 OR 205/50R16? the pros and cons to those 2 sizes. My other option I was thinking is getting the 2 front tires size 205/50/R16 and leaving the back to 205/55/16 since I`m not having issues with it. The hankook tires I have right now are in great condition with about 80% thread left I got them with my RSX rims for 320 so that`s why I got them... I also already looked at this thread and did some research. I just need some help with some fellow luders with experience. Also which would give me a better turning and handling. I thought about running 215 series but they are to pricey for me. ;/ Recommended Tire size & Offsets! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

are you sure the plastic fender lining isn't falling down which is rubbing the tire, and that's what your hearing?!?!

this doesn't sound right at all. there is no way you should be rubbing with that size tire...
check out your suspension and make sure everything is solid.

I`ll check it out. My suspension feels nice the only time it ever rubs or hits is when turning onto a store witha slant or going down it and turning to much. It does a wierd noise like a screech type of sound but abit worse it doesnt sound like plastic from the fender lyinging. It kinda sounds like it hits sthe springs but not sher just a guess Im worried now! I`ll check it out right now and see if I see anything but last time I checked I didnt see anything:O

Re: Tire size

Alright so I checked and I dont see what it rubs on the only thing I see is that its close to the control arm. But I`m not sher if its close enough to hit. It did the noise again when turning onto the same spots it does it on. :( I`m pretty sher my suspension is good other than a bushing or to that need to be replaced to :/ Would the rank and pinion do this noise? I`m going to take of my wheels and check it again later but I dont see anything wrong with it I also turned my steereing wheel all the way and tried to push the front down to see if it would do noise but my suspension feels good and I dont weight enough. The thread some other member posted said that the biggest you can run is 205/50r16 without any issue so I`m guessing it is the size? Anyone else wanna chime in before I go broke buying new tires haha

Try rubbing chalk on the tire, then drive it and see where it rubs off.

Re: Tire size

I agree with the other guys, here I was at about a 2.25" drop with 215/55/16 which are a little taller and wider than your tires. Only rubbing I had was at full lock.

On a side note, good god my car looks funny in its almost completely stock form back in the day.

Or put blue tape in the inner fenderwells drive and see which parts rub off.

It looked good from the start. Paint looks nice and glossy but back to the point I`ll try putting blue tape it appears it is rubbing its abit smooth but not sher if it was already there looks new/recent. Thanks!

Re: Tire size

Alright let me try to describe it better. It`s like a screech/grinding sound. It doesnt sound like its hitting the fender lining because it does do that when im taking a sharp turns down this road up in the mountains on the way down. I honestly cant describe it perfectly. Its kinda scares you when you hear it though its kinda loud. It isnt like the sound you hear from the plate behind the rotor. Thats the best I can do to describe it.

Re: Tire size

Ok, here goes. I had an '88 lude that had THE most annoying screechy sound and it got louder when I turned, especially into or out of an inclined driveway. Seems there were nooks and crannies between the caliper/rotor/dust shield that caught just the right size pebble from pea gravel and especially the tar and rock they use here to sealcoat the streets. Jack 'er up , remove the wheel and rotate the rotor --see if you hear anything or see anything. Mine would screech like hell with the right size pebble. Easy fix to try--find a parking lot and back it up at a decent speed and the hit the brakes a bunch of times. I used to hear them zing out when you reverse direction and alternately apply the brakes. Never happened on the rears--only the fronts. Has never happened on my 5th gen.

Re: Tire size

I usually always go in reverse to leave my house and it hasn`t done any noise out of the normal. I removed my wheel and looked around and I didnt see anything bad really. Just my fender lining is abit damaged but Im pretty sure it was already like that. I rotated the rotor around too and I hear nothing. I drove around and tried turning onto some driveways and it didnt do the noise it only does it on pretty steep driveways and I try to go as slow as I can aswell.

Re: Tire size

You're hubs are done (broken). It's quiet then you shift weight by turning the wheels, your bearings are grinding and the skreech will make you tear and clinch your teeth. Ask me how I know! If not no idea what it could be.

Maybe bad tie rod causing rub?

Re: Tire size

Imagine if you will, driving an 8300lb truck and both front hub bearings go. The sound is unforgettable. Trust me, blown motors, spun bearings, gears grinding are mere door squeaks in comparison. And you can't see it until the rotor is removed.

Get back to us with an update!

Re: Tire size

Step 1. Fix your grammar. It's "sure" not "sher".
Step 2. Listen to sideswipe. Anyone that can speak from experience is worth listening to. Even I agree with his input. A bearing can be a huge hidden problem since you never expect it.

Re: Tire size

I wasn`t ignoring Sideswipe SI suggestion at all and I`ve seen people with more incorrect grammer than a 10 year old... No need to come to my thread post about an issue I`m having just to ramble about my incorrect grammer AND make a false comment... please leave.
