99 prelude compression test result

hi, i have a 99 prelude, i had it for about a year now, got 11xxxx mils on car, the previous ower did a engin swap, i check the engine number, its from 2000 but i dont know whats the mils on it, and its been burning oil. about 1 qt every 1000 mils. i did some research online and it seems like every other prelude out theres burning oil like crazy. so i didnt try to fix it. today i was changing spark plugs and i notices theres alot of carb buildup on the plugs and i look into the cylinder thru the spark plug holes, and i see what looks like alot of carb buildup too. so i thought that the ring or sleeve is bad and thats were all the oil went so i did a compression test and i got 240psi, 230psi, 235psi, 250psi. they are within 10% so its good, but they are kinda high, could that be because theres too much carbon buildup inside the cylinders? and whys there so much carb buildup? if cylinder is good?

Do a seafoam treatment to get rid of the buildup then retest the compression. As for why there is build Idk. Maybe clogged egr, bad gas, too low of octanethe octane or rings could be the culprit.

And pull the fuel pump fuse to get a better reading

deff do a seafoam treatment i personally blame ethanol for the extra gunk in our cars they wernt designed when that crap started to be put in the gas. i clean my EGR and do a seafoam treatment and clean the O2 sensors every 2 oil changes keeps her runnin great and it takes ALOT of gunk out

Re: 99 prelude compression test result

Every 2 oil changes dang! Do you add it to your oil , tank, intake or all three?

I did oil and intake and I had a huge cloud of crap for at least 30min

Re: 99 prelude compression test result

i don't add it to my oil but 2 times a year but it gets the full treatment other than that. I always blow smoke for about 10 minutes the first time was horrid but my gas mileage is AMAZING even with the auto i get about 27 miles to the gallon with AC running all the time(as long as i drive conservatively and keep my foot out of it)
H23A1 automatic mostly stock just has an aftermarket intake and a new blacktrax intake manifold with portmatched throttle body and a new catalytic converter stock exaust. its all in quality tune up parts and keeping your engine and its sensors clean. I also use half of the amout of lucas oil stabilizer that they suggest it seems to run a lil smoother

Re: 99 prelude compression test result

when using seafoam, i usually just add it to the gas and spray into intake. but i heard u could add into the vacuum line which work even better. its that ture? if it is, which line should i add it in?

Re: 99 prelude compression test result

What I do is i will rev while letting it sucking it in then let go of the throttle while it continues to suck until it dies. Let it sit for 5-10mins then when I go to start you get more gunk out. If you do it like that you'll get a darker smoke coming out and a cleaner engine.
