Clutch Padel Assembly Problem After Auto to 5sdp Swap

Fellow Luders,

I am having issues with my clutch pedal bracket assembly 7 months after my auto to 5 5spd swap.

The clutch bracket shifts down when I step on the clutch pedal. The base of the bracket is however firmly secure. I think I may need additional 'something' to secure the upper part of the bracket to prevent it from down shifting when I step on the clutch pedal.

Any ideas on how to do this will be welcomed. I hate to see the bracket dangling up and down any time I step on the clutch pedal.

Look up rompirates 5spd guide. You need a bolt installed above the pedal to keep it firm, hope you didn't brake or bend your pedal.

x2

what you need to do is take off the windshield wipers, then the black plastic piece where the windshield wipers are try not to break the little clips off or water will get in afterwards. find a nice bolt and nut to use. then drill into the fire wall downwards where the top of the pedal should be. you can either drill it down wards or upwards if u have a long and skinny drill bit. once you do that you can stick the bolt in from the top and tighten the nut form the bottom to hold you pedal. should take more then 30 min. if u bent or broke the pedal, you kinda have to bend it back to where it would normally be, but if you broke it u might need another pedal. i have the link to rompirates thread on pp.com in my sig if not you can pm me im on almost all the time and i can help you out. hope all goes well.

Re: Clutch Padel Assembly Problem After Auto to 5sdp Swap

Hey Guys! I have finally secured my clutch pedal firmly. I did not know what I was missing until this upgrade was done - car now drives like new.

Thanks Soto and dr2day for your inputs!!
