Motor Swap

So, I know I'm about to be thrown in the fire for this one, but hear me out.

So I think the lude is pretty much on it's last life, and probably isn't even worth salvaging.

So I've been thinking, I've always wanted to do something extremely different... and while pondering existence, and the ways Karma has screwed me on vehicles recently, I figured, what if I changed it to RWD and did an LS1 Swap?

Throw those stones, but honesty, I think it would be pretty awesome. It's a project, that I really don't need another of....

But would this be possible? I know it's been done to a 4th Gen, but 5th Gens are so much better looking.

Don't ban me... please.

Very True. But I'm wondering about the dimensions on the engine. I'm hoping that the hood would still be able to close without modification.

Re: Motor Swap

It's not that I haven't done work like this before, just not this extreme and different. And I have mentors and friends that could help me along the way if I get lost. But at the end of the day will it be just a Prelude with an LS1? Will it be worth it?

I'm not even sure if I'd go through with it, I'm just interested in this at the moment.

And I have no desire for a Camaro or Trans Am. But I do like the engine and I like the styling of the Prelude....

Does anyone have any links or information about the dimensions of either? LS1 and Prelude?

Re: Motor Swap

It's been done once already -- search around on the Net. I seem to recall there being a thread on it here somewhere.

What else would it be? A 240SX with an LS1? The car won't be changing shape.

If it's worth it? That's entirely on you. You're going to be the person doing all the work; it's up to you to decide if that's time well spent. If you ask me, yea that'd be pretty sick. There's only a handful of LS1 Preludes, most of them 4th Gens.
