Not getting a spark

Ok well I've been having this intermittent starting issue for a while. But no one wants to hear those boring details. Long story short I'm getting no spark. I've changed the ICM 3x -_- worked then no spark again. Not sure why. The dizzy has been changed, as well as the spark plugs and spark plug wires. Also my coil is testing ok. Kinda high readings, but from what I've heard that's normal.

I've yet to check/change my Main Relay and Starter. Could one of these be the culprit in my lack of a spark?

P.S. The car cranks very well.

I'm about this close |-| to towing her to Honda.

Also there is fuel. The fuel pump hums and the smell is unmistakable as well as my flooded head =\.

HELP!!!

If it was the starter motor it wont crank. Give the main relay a shot

Re: Not getting a spark

I've changed the cap and rotor as well. I'm just confused as to how it would be the MAIN RELAY. I've always thought that relay was in charge of fuel, how would it lead to me having no spark?

Re: Not getting a spark

doesnt the main relay have control over alot of things not just fuel? you pretty much checked everything already i would check for if its an issue with no spark. your 100% sure your ignition wires are good?

Yeah I'm 100% sure they are good, but I'll give the main relay a check.

Re: Not getting a spark

Maybe the ecu is bad, or crank sensor, or maybe you should just sell me the car :)

it should throw a code for those things

Re: Not getting a spark

True it should throw a code but seeing how it is intermittent could be the issue. I had a car that had a bad crank sensor that never threw a code just wouldn't fire. Took me 2 months to finally figure it out.

Re: Not getting a spark

The only codes I've ever thrown have been randoms misfires....on all cylinders -_-. I'm gonna change the Main Relay tomorrow. I've heard there was a recall on my car for the ignition switch, could that be the problem?

Re: Not getting a spark

I would check the ignition switch and all the wires controlling spark, I changed a crank sensor eight times before I found out one wire was grounding out and killing my car. Also it is unlikly for them to be so bad it won't start but, check the spark plugs if you or someone else did them resently and they dropped to hard the gap will be off, also if they are super old the gap either gets to wide (most common) or has build up and the gap is to little. Seeing as you say you have no spark I'm assuming that you are checking at the plugs. If you haven't you should start at the plugs and move your way down the system checking how far along the no sprak goes. IE if you dont get spark at the wires but you are getting spark out of the Dizzy then you have bad wires. If you are getting spark signal to the coil but no spark coming from the coil bad coil. I would be willing to bet that it is a broken wire somewhere. Even if the wire doesn't look broken on the outside feel it to see if the wire is broken inside. Good luck man

Re: Not getting a spark

Today I finally got my car running. Turns out my spark plugs are getting fuel fouled =\. My fuel pressure is really high damn aftermarket fuel rails. But she is running. I bought some OEM spark plugs at a steal. So for now she is alive. I will keep you all posted.

Anyone know how to adjust fuel pressure?

Re: Not getting a spark

Usually controlled via a vacuum hose. But you will need to modify yours to be adjusted. Search for a arm fpr

Re: Not getting a spark

Thanks for the response. I actually have a fuel pressure regulator -_-. So I'll be tinkering around with that tomorrow. My starts are still weak so I'm pretty much certain this is the problem. I'll be sure to post the results tomorrow. Thanks for all the responses.

been looking but haven't found anything specific. if I'm getting spark, does that mean the main relay IS working?

Is there a way to test the main relay without having to just go and replace it?
