ingnition system recall?

has anyone brought their car in or heard of an ignition recall that makes the car randomly shut off while driving? if that problem doesnt have to do with the recall then what is it?

Re: ingnition system recall?

Its most likely the ignition. I was on a winding road with my girl when the car kept dying. Wasn't very fun see clots and having hard breaks and no power steering.

Re: ingnition system recall?

Go get you free recall from Honda and ask for new seat belts if you need some.

Re: ingnition system recall?

On hot days? I thought that was just the infamously haggard Honda PGM-FI relay going out like in every other 90's era Honda.

This one:

Safety recall
NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 02v120000
Year: 1997-99
Honda TSB unk
Recall Date: 05/20/2002
Manufacture dates: unk
Electrical contacts in the ignition switch could degrade when current passed through them during start-up -- worn contacts could cause the engine to stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. This fix was for dealers to replace the ignition switch. Affected many Honda models.

Whether Honda will replace the ignition switch for free depends on the conditions of the recall and the expected service life of the part -- chances are pretty good, but not 100%.

mine does but my engine didn't die and even after I remove the key engine still running so I took it to Honda and they diagnosed the problem and its the ignition switch.
