Re: good price?

those are just basic side skirts, no lip kits there. if you want lower it more, you probably need camber kit..

the price: you can always make counter offer and haggle

Re: good price?

of course you can paint the skirts.
and that price thing; you have to just ask from the seller... check some other preludes there - what price they ask from them, then you'll get the picture how much they usually cost

You can have them painted. This is probably a base lude and didn't get them painted.

i am aware of the VAFCII, my old lude had one, just a piggyback controller though. and ya the mods do throw up a red flag, just minor bolts on though. The maintenance also throws a red flag

I'm confused, you seemed to know NOTHING about cars when you were asking if you could paint the skirts and if there is a lip kit on the car.
But now you say this. Lol not to be mean but I would assume since your not new here you would know that stuff.

But as to the OP, I would not buy the car. I would try to find a stock lude so you can make it truly yours.

hard to find stock in my area, and I have never seen skirts not the same color as the car, thats why I asked, and it does look like a lip kit from those pictures to me

By the way to not to be mean, I do know about cars, thanks for adding those 2 cents in though. I do my research quite a bit on here and other sites such as preludepower, honda-tech, etc.

Back on topic, any other opinions from anybody else?

Re: good price?

Mine is stock HEHEHEHE!!! lol I saw that car yesterday and i thought it was pretty clean. If the car runs good, and doesn't have any issue that you can detect in a somewhat hard test drive. I say go for it. Its EBP for crying out loud!

Re: good price?

What you need to do is make sure the car runs good. That means take it to YOUR mechanic. If all is good then walk up to the guy with $6800 and lets say another $300 in another pocket but let him know that you were trying to keep that $300 to put into the car for a new oil change, spark plugs, etc. It always worked for me when I went out to buy a car. I'm willing to bet this guy ragged on the car though and something is about to go out on it. Good luck.

Re: good price?

I'd leave it. If you're spending 8000, on a used car that's 10 years old, lease a new one and hold onto your money. What? 2 year lease will come out to the exact kind of money, with a BRAND NEW car for 2-3 years. Warranty. No hassles.

I'm not paying someone for taking care of their car or modding the sh!t out of it. Ever. Rare or not.

Re: good price?

Well that makes this decision easier. I can justify 6000 for the condition of the car itself, with the mileage. And I understand you don't want a loan. I don't see this guys elling his prelude for less than 6500, unless he's awful at negotiations. You can buy a much cheaper car and have money left to repair it (like posted above with the 300.00)
If you're 17, your first car should be a POS, part of growing up. We all had one, ROFL

Re: good price?

I'm not to sure about anyone else but I see things as not every kid gets a ****ty first car. My first car was a 99 Honda Accord EX-L with 86k for $8000. My grandparents bought it for me because I had the money to buy my own crappy car but they didn't want me in something unsafe. When I decide to have children some day I will look at it the same way and will buy a decent car for them. Try searching for a stock prelude or one from a dealership (Not your local average joe dealership) so it might come with warranty just in case there's something wrong with it or you decide to rag or get in another accident. Good luck.

Re: good price?

Not a good price, definatly find something cheaper, especially if you are only 17. Don't ever get a lease that is a bad finacial move, Hondas are great cars you don't need to find one with only 80K miles on it, I bought mine slightly modified at 150K miles on it and it is probably in just as good shape for only $3800. The only thing you really have to worry about is timing belt, and tranny if an automatic, and clutch if manual. Even if you had to replace a clutch and timing belt it would only cost you around $1200 thats still $3k cheaper with the same reliability. Someone once told me never buy a car that even smells like it's been modified unless you know them personaly. Because you never know how well they put those parts on and how it was driven after they were put on. I understand that they are bolt ons but I've been buying and selling cars long enough to see so idiots screw up a plug and play set up. Take you time hunting a better deal with lower price, and then drive it for awhile sell it and buy another one.

True. I had moms van as a fall back car. My first car ran me 500 bucks and was crazy safe. Look up Chrysler Slant-6 engine to see what I'm talking about. within a year I upgraded to a 2000 sentra, but saved up for a huge down payment driving my 1980 Chrysler Cordoba.

TO OP: maybe you want to go 4th gen? Lots of si/vtecs floating around...

Re: good price?

dont get me wrong but... just buy cheaper car and learn to be good driver with it. If you're only 17 and already have been in crash, dont buy expensive/powerful car! you propaply end up crashing it too in couple years - money and nice car wasted. your health also.

sorry but I know how young dudes drive. over their limits and that doesnt end well.

and btw girls doesnt understand anything about cars, so it doesnt matter how "cool" it is ;)

this is why I only had my first car for about a month, my dad made me get rid of it before I killed myself in it. I ended up getting rid of my porsche for a 86 cavalier lol. I learned how to drive and I cut my teeth on a car I couldn't kill myself in.
