Just got a LUDE problem NO AC!

The person I bought this car off said the ac works off and on, he said his buddy said the clutch on the AC was bad. So after I bought it I tried to get it to work atleast once. Just sitting in my driveway turning it off and on to see if it will work I can hear the transfer of power to the compressor each time. Yet no cold air comes out. Could it still be the compressor? or just needs to be recharged?

I really just need some tips on how to figure this out, this summer has been brutal.

BTW 2001 Prelude Base 129k Manual

Thanks

Re: Just got a LUDE problem NO AC!

The belt isn't spinning the compressor when I turn it on. I tried shooting some wd4 on the clutch and then tapping it with a long screwdriver and a hammer, it moves freely. What can my next move be? Say I replace the compressor do I have to worry about doing anything else other than maybe recharging?

Try recharging and go from there. Welcome to the site. Post some pics of the car.

Turn your AC on and then walk to your engine bay and see if the center part of the AC compressor pulley is rotating and not jerky n whatnot. If it isnt and the AC is on then most likely your compressor is done.

But if it is spinning while the AC is on then I'd look into gettin it recharged as well as check for any leaks that it may have.

I jus got AC in my lude. Had to replace the condesnor bc a line broke off of it n that also I had a leak somewhere which I went to Autozone n got a STOP LEAK can and had it run through and so far it's nice n cold n compressing prperly

not saying this is it but i know one thing that can cause the ac not to work, if your circuit board is bad in the climate control it can cause it not to work, and usually if that's the case the green ac light will not come on.
