Icon6 Keep the H22 or Swap for F20B

Hey got a question for yall. im new to the site but im not new to the prelude family. I bought a 97 Prelude SH about 2 years ago, well it broke down on me. I believe i cracked my head, definatly blew my head gasket, and idk whats with the tranny. however, my question is should i leave the H22a4 in it (new one of course) or swap to the F20B... ...from my research all i can truley gather is that the F20B has a higher gear ratio where as the H22 has a more low end tourqe... ....dont quote me on that. Problem is, from other speculations the F20B seems to be cheaper than a H22.... ...idk to much thats just the JDM sites (but then again who doesnt want a JDM instead of USDM). Any insite or help that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Get a H22 for sure same hp as the F20B but more torque. The F20B has 200ps but it takes longer to get that power minus the less torque. Consider getting the H22a with a tranny cause the SH tranny will not work without the atts unit..

Re: Keep the H22 or Swap for F20B

actually depends on if you want to go boost or not the f22 block has only 85mm bore and pistons the block is also not aluminum like the h22 which means alot stronger cylinder walls which is why people do the Frankenstein swap. the h22 has 87mm cylinder bore. the f22 makes more torque than the h22 because it doesn't have vtec so they made it have compression instead the h22 has higher hp since it makes most of its power after 4500 rpms and up i would recommend f22b1 because the h22 head swaps right on without having to block an oil port. unlike the f22a1 where you do. the f20c1 is higher hp than h22 but also less torque

i would look into the f22b1 but i believe i cracked the head. So my new question is, rebuild the h22 i got and put new heads on it or buy a new JDM H22

Re: Keep the H22 or Swap for F20B

i'm currently trying to sell my 4th gen with a f20b swap. its' a blast to drive but i believe a f20b in a 5th gen isn't as good a h22 due to the lower torque and the 5th gen being a heavier car.
