Noobie here with '97 SH ATTS Issue

Hey guys, I know this has been covered on the site, but I want to go over my own issue with the atts staying on, on my '97sh. I'm no car guru so please don't get irritated if I don't get what you saying. My brother pulled the code on the car and it stated that my atts control module is the issue. Well, I've been driving the car that way for a year not thinking it was a big deal. Recently I notice my car started to make this rubbing noise from the front driver side wheel. So we put my car on the lift and spun the wheel and it sounds like two metal pieces rubbing together. So I take it I need to replace the atts itself and not the control box or whatever.

I have two options and please let me know what you think.

First option - My cousin has a '94 JDM LSD Type S tranny and he's willing to give me the transmission, however wouldn't my atts light still be one since I'm replacing it with a non atts tranny?

Second option - I found a '99 jdm Sh tranny for $400, would my atts light still be on if I don't have the control module for that tranny?

Or what do you think I should do.

Just a quick question... are you sure the noise is coming from the atts? there are several items in that are that could cause a "metal rubbing" noise... (brakes, wheel bearing, cv joint)

Did you check by your brake pad and rotor to see if its possible that a pebble might have gotten wedged in btwn the the pad n rotor?! It's happened before.

option 1 won't work due to the fact that the SH block is slightly different than a jdm/usdm non-SH block. as for option 2, if in fact your atts is not working your only solution would be to replace it with a USDM SH-tranny or JDM Type-S tranny with ATTS.

Re: Noobie here with '97 SH ATTS Issue

My brother already checked to make sure it wasn't the brake pad etc...My brother said the noise sounds like it's coming from the bearing or something in the atts.

Another question I forgot to ask...My check engine light was on prior to the atts light coming on. The code said something was wrong with my fuel trim? What the heck does that mean? I replaced almost every little part in my car which only has 145K miles on it , except for the fuel injectors. Could it be the fuel injectors?
