VTEC solenoid???

I was told my solenoid is bad, and it needs to be replaced. I have searched and cant find anything. Before i go to the dealer and sell them my arms and legs for this thing does anyone know where i can get one of these things. Please help Im trying to get this problem fixed soon. My car is throwing a P1259 error code at me if that helps.

it should be code 21 for the vtec solenoid...
you can get the check engine light code to make sure that that is indeed throwing that code.

you can diagnose this issue yourself like checking if there is a current goin from the wire harness or takin the vtec solenoid off to clean the screen...

i had this issue...wire was dead somehow...so i got it hotwired to the ecu pin.

if you just want to get a new one, you can find it on ebay for not too crazy...or local junk yard...someone correct me if im wrong but h22 vtec solenoids are the same (4th gen and 5th gen). brand new is very expensive and to me not really necessary unless you reallyyyy dont trust used ones...

How can i check it for that code. I hooked a OBD2 computer up and it gave me the P1259 code but i didn't see any other codes.

5th Gen, Code P1259:

Detectection item: VTEC System Malfunction

Probable Cause: VTEC Solenoid, Open or short on VTEC Solenoid Valve circuit, VTEC Pressure Switch circuit, or ECM.

source, 5th gen Service Manual. I would say its probably the solenoid. Check the internet or a salvage yard b/f you go to the dealer.

yes get a helms manual..
i would upload the page if i had it with me..
but it is available online at other sites but i think you have to pay or register atleast. =/
