Sluggish gears need help plz =[

Hey guys I'm new to ludes. I just picked up a 97 5speed base model from a dealer. 10 minutes onto the freeway the check engine light comes on and the RPM ranges on the tach seem eratic and very sluggish. The vtec is very weak and sometimes it just revs but does not go, especially in 2nd and 3rd gears. I'm very confused and hope this wont be an expensive problem! Any idea what could be wrong? Sry I'm such a noob! Thanks guys!!

Start with the obvious. Change the plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor. Even if thats not whats wrong it cant hurt.

Re: Sluggish gears need help plz =[

Take it back to the dealer. No one else. You have 30 days warranty from the dealership to fix all problems. Someone else touches the car=no warranty. Keep a record of all repairs the dealer makes in the event the prelude is a lemon. Under law the dealer has to make the repairs, replace the car or cancel the sale. It has only been 24 hours. State your case to the general manager, no one else. Google "lemon law" and include your state to know all your rights. Here's a link for California if that's what the CA means.

Definitely return that and threaten legal action if they don't want to accept it. You got screwed over. Good luck.
