How to install LED under dash

Hey guys I currently bought 2 LED strips eyelids. When I bought them they came without instructions so I have no idea how to install them. Does anyone know were I can connect the positive and the negative connection other then the battery, since the wires are very small I don't have enough room to maneuver them around, they cannot reach the battery I'd say they have about 1 meter wiring length. Any one know a really clear and good tut.?

Re: How to install LED under dash

You can get a power strip that plugs into your cigarette lighter. It allows you to clip in the wires (up to 4 or more lights etc) and has a switch on it. I'll try to find link or just post pictures of what I used - got tired of the ones in my accord so i pulled it all out.

Re: How to install LED under dash

I used this strip and an extension with a switch so i could run it to my glovebox. the 3rd pic is another one i have laying around that just hooks up directly to the fusebox.

I could turn them on and off anytime with that switch as long as the car was on... this was all in my old accord mind you lol

Re: How to install LED under dash

In my opinion. I would say tap into your door pins and dome light. That way when you open your door the light will go on and when you close it, it'll shut off. It also dims like when you close the door. Got that in my car as well.

For the eye lids, I'd look at tapping into the wire for your parking lights. just either get a blade t-tap (not sure of the real name, can explain more if you don't get it) or just cut the wires and use crimp tubes to reconnect everything. On my 91 escort, I had mine wired to a completely separate switch in the cabin though.

Re: How to install LED under dash

I got the box's at PepBoys. But you could also do what Andrew suggested, which looks much cleaner. The only reason I used those box's in my old Accord was because I just wanted it to be quick and easy without cutting or tapping into anything - being lazy and all at the time lol.

yeah I just finished ill upload pictures tonight to show the lights. Thanks for every one I used what Andrew said at least now I can plug it in and plug it out and it would avoid danger of my wires doing a small match and catching on fire :P

Thanks man! CF radio piece is wrapped with Carbon Fiber Vinyl. The real CF piece honda has is gloss.

I want to keep my speedo red. All the white lights turn off when the doors are closed and stuff and red doesn't hurt your eyes when you drive like the white/blue does.

I had an alarm system installed so finding the wires weren't too hard. You basically tap into the dome light as that triggers the alarm. Then you tap into the door pins to get them to set off everytime to open your doors. Not exactly sure which wire is which as this was done a while back.

The CF wrap itself is vinyl so it can stretch and go around bends and whatnot. It's made for exterior wrapping. It's what I used for my roof.

There is Oracal 975 which I've used on my roof and it's thicker however the seems started to pull off. I've used 3M Di-Noc and had nothing but success with that stuff. I don't have a link since my friend does vinyling as his job but you can probably order it from most car mod stores and what not.

Re: How to install LED under dash

it is quite simple actually. I got my leds just a few days ago and i am waiting for my switch. The main part all u have to do is strip the wire on ur leds, I used scissors it worked out pretty good. Then u take ur center console apart super easy. Then when u get to the cig lighter pull off the plastic wiring. Then put one wire in one circle and the other wire in the other circle. Then place the plastic wiring back on. Turn the key to acc, and they should light up. You might have to mix and match the wire to see which goes where. Hope that helps. LED Bulbs
