Ecu and tuning

Currently I have an aem short ram intake, and a greddy evo2 catback, along with a megan racing header (I know they aren't good) which i haven't had time to put on the car yet. What would be my best option as far as an ecu and tuning would go to maximize my gains?

Re: Ecu and tuning

is it worth to tune THOSE mods, you only lose your money and gains would be something like 4 hp
nothing in your engine changes that much that it need tuning
ecu swap hardware costs 360 $ + what that tuner takes from you ...so compare that price to those gains. just couple of ponies.

but if you like to do that, buy these first

Here atleast that was the cheapest option, one tuner offered Apexis VAFCII for me, but that costed a lot
more than that ecu swap (and what Ive read arent as that good).

Re: Ecu and tuning

Yeah, i was wondering if it would actually be worth the money or not. I'm going to keep reading up on it and weigh out my options. Thanks for the input!

Re: Ecu and tuning

I would get rid of the megan header and buy a hytech replica header and get an aem v2 intake

waste of cash, just some no brand CAI-pipe with Injen (or suchlike) filter would do the same thing. or then that type s intake.

I dont really understand this hytech-hype whats going on here.. isnt it racing header, what works best on high rpm's?
The best header would be custom made for your car.

The reason that people go with the hytech rep is because it gives you the most HP vs Cost out of any header I know of.

Re: Ecu and tuning

The real hytech header is built to your specs (custom made and around $1,200)

The replica for the h22 seems to put out a decent amount of hp and is only $350. Better than a dc sports header for the same price..

I would like to get a different header like a hytech one built for my supercharger but not sure if I wanna get the real one or the rep.. I think I would still gain enough hp with the rep and I'll more money for a mugen twin loop..

Tuning it would definitely be worth it!

Re: Ecu and tuning

Thanks for the input guys! Does hytech make two different headers? One for base model and one for sh?

Re: Ecu and tuning

Hytech custom makes a header to your engines needs.. You'd have to contact them and tell them what you got and they'll hook you up

The hytech REPLICA is just a header.. Not custom made. Some people had to cut a notch in the cross member and some say they didn't.. It's better than some but not a hytech header

Re: Ecu and tuning

i think a cheaper route would be to buy a p28 obd1 ecu and obd2 to obd1 jumper harness. that way you have the most popular honda ecu to tune and have more options in regards to software to tune your bolt ons. as 98vtec said, a tuned stock motor will be better than an untuned stock motor. you're looking to spend at least $100+ depending on where you get the ecu and if you get a cheap jumper harness.
