***I NEED HELP***

Hey guys I just bought a 2001 prelude SE after owning a 96 lude, the car only has a original 100k and i want to do some mods...i have a grand to play with and i wanted to get some extra hp, i was thinking of an AEM v2 intake, DC headers, apexi WS2 cat back...then maybe tune it and get an Apexi AFC-neo...what do you guys think...i welcome all feedback, i'm a beginner so....

Re: ***I NEED HELP***

look up intake info on this site, the v2 may or may not be your best option.
the dc header is NOT an option period, so don't waste your money. you choice of exhaust is just fine.
all of this info is readily available on this site, you just have to dig around a little
welcome to the site and good luck with your new car

Do stage 1 like you wanted. Listen to OGS. Ditch the DC header notion.

Intakes - Q&A - Intakes

Header - No more HEADER threads!!!

OMG. Another intake/header/exhaust thread...

Intake: JDM Type-S w/ K&N drop-in.
Header: Hytech Replica
Exhaust: Personal opinions and depends on your setup...

EDIT: Saw you were from Toronto... not far from Ottawa. Glad to see another Canadian on this forum :D

Also, you can check out different MR threads, like Ogs, 98vtec, akaprepreludesh, I could go on and on. Just look around the forum, search it, and I think you'll find answers to your questions

This sounds pretty good, for exhaust I'd look into Kteller, it gives you some good options for what you can get. Plus you can get your Hytech Replica off there too

Keep in mind, the lude is already aggressively tuned and does not respond well to just bolt ons. IMO for the money you're going to spend, the gain isnt worth it unless you're doing it in addition to something that makes power or internal upgrades.

Look at dynos, and don't fool yourself into thinking 3 hp is even noticeable.

well, not even 15hp is that noticeable... I know that the car works better but thats about it.. Exept on vtec area you can see/feel/hear the difference.

Id say you have to mod everything to get noticeable amount of power (and A LOT of cash)!
The best upgrades what Ive been made are
* Intake Manifold - old oem killed the engine after 7000rpm (it doesnt give enough air)
* Acura RDX injectors - car respons to the gas much better
* BC Racing coilovers ..really this is the best mod what Ive done!

Re: ***I NEED HELP***

Yeah I have noticed most have been happiest starting with suspension and handling mods, since it seems that is the preludes strong point (not raw power). Next on my list is lowering, I will get to the engine ever I ever get some good cash, I have a super charger on my mind.. one can dream!

enhancing the cars strong point by addressing the handling is a great suggestion. there are plenty of suspension mods that are affordable. Once the car handles on rails, it will seem that much quicker.

Buy decent coilover kit, not lowering springs. I had lowering springs first
and with good coilovers the difference is huge! The car was "surface hard" and when I got those coilovers it became stiffer but also much smoother.

coilovers w/ adjustable damping, only way to go.

well, imo you dont need to tune the stock engine... mod it first and tune then, you have to do it anyway and in this way you save money when you dont need to tune it that often

If I were you. Before doing any mods, do the maintenance on your car. Don't wanna put all your money into mods and find out you blew a belt or your waterpumps done... etc

hey guys i bought the car 2 weeks ago and it has 100k km on it, i did the timing belt and water pump as soon as i bought it and i also did a full brake job (brake flush) and all fluids/oils were flushed and replaced. New distributor rotor, cap, spark plugs and cables...i think that's all i needed maintenance wise at 100k

Re: ***I NEED HELP***

before i do the coilovers, i was going to buy the replica hytech header off kronn98sh, and a ws2 apexi catback...i want to keep the stock cat and i was wondering with the header and the cat back if ill get an engine code. I had a 96 lude before i bought this one and i had to replace the flex pipe every 8 months just for having a cat back...for some reason my flex pipes just kept burning and i didn't even have an aftermarket header....any suggestions or full ideas for exhaust i'd appreciate but i really do want to keep my stock cat
