car won't start

so i get dropped off at home i get in my car and....i drive to my friends house :)

park chill and 10 min later nothing. I go to start it and the starter clicks but no vroom vroom haha. Battery seemed fine since all the lights were workign and since the starter was clicking. Although I may have heard a hissing coming from the battery....

so what's the problem oh great prelude friends...??

Re: car won't start

the starter terminals are going bad on the inside. Try tapping on the starter and it should turn over. If it is the starter they do have a rebuild kit for it on egay for cheap....

Re: car won't start

ok cool thanks i tried looking for the starter but couldn't see it plus my car is lowered so getting under it would have been a bit of a pain. Where abouts is the starter on a 5th gen?

Re: car won't start

It also could be the fule pump relay, check to see if the fuel pump is working. when you turn the key to the on position, listen for a low volume buzzing which is the fuel pump priming. If you don't hear that, then check the relay

Re: car won't start

Yeah, I'd hit it with a wooden handle of a hammer while someone cranks it over. The brushes on the inside might be out worn out or out of their spot.

Re: car won't start

Did you try to jump-start it? or a different battery?

For future reference - the starter is circled in red here:

Re: car won't start

I'd at least try and jump it first. Nothing you can loose... except maybe a heart beat if done wrong..
