New or Rebuild?

Hey guys,
I have a 98 lude with 210km and as you guys know they burn oil.
Now, I have 3 choices and would like your help.
I can either sell it, swap the engine for a newer one (witch means that i might have the same issue in the future) or rebuild it, I'm unsure what I want to do....

Any thoughts??

Re: New or Rebuild?

Same situation with me. A newer engine is cheaper and not as time consuming as a rebuild so I might go that route since I have someone that can pull it out and drop it in quickly for me. I burn enough to get black soot on the rear of my bumper every 2nd day.

Re: New or Rebuild?

swap would be cheaper if you had the base model. rebuild would be a pretty cheap option over swap if you had the SH model and labor was cheap.

Re: New or Rebuild?

Can't you do a rebuild with the engine in the car? I would think that would be cheaper then a swap.

Re: New or Rebuild?

Rebuild if you can. Get a new one if you can get it for cheap, relatively speaking.

Re: New or Rebuild?

Is it Automatic? (sell it)
Keep it if it's a five speed, that way you can swap the engine.

Re: New or Rebuild?

I'm burning about 1 to 2 quarts a tank. And yes Sideswipe SI it is a five speed.
I'm going to start getting some quotes on either way, but what I'm not sure is which rout to take that is going to be the safer and more reliable
