RATTLING NOISE. Please help before I kill myself.

I have this rattling noise which has been driving me absolutely insane the last few months. I have checked several things thus far. Including, but not limited to:
1. Heat shield.
2. Exhaust baffle pipe.
3. Rotor/ Brake pads / tightening lug nuts.
4. Catalytic Converter

None of these things are the problem. I have either replaced them or fixed them or whatever. The cat was rattling, it has been replaced, but the main rattling I was hearing before continues. Now, it only rattles when I hit bumps, manholes, things in roads, or if I'm driving on a gravel road it will rattle constantly. So today, I kicked all the my wheels really hard and BINGO, Noise is coming from rear passenger wheel just as I had first suspected. I put the e-brake on and kicked again. NO NOISE!! now... What the hell do you guys think it could be?? It seemed to only make the noise when I kicked the tire and the rim... however, when I tried just tapping on the rotor/ wheel well with my rubber handled pittsburgh socket wrench I got nothing? maybe its because I wasnt using enough force because I didnt want to **** anything up?? any and all ideas will be taken into consideration. This rattling noise is royally pissing me off and I drive on gravel roads/ ****ty roads a lot because I live in a very rural community.

When I was taking the wheels off my 'lude this weekend I kept catching them on a thin metal plate behind the rotors.....maybe?

Rattle noise fixes are the worst. I could be a number of different things. Have some one keep making the noise happen while you listen to exactly where it is coming from, until you pin-point it exactly. Take that tire off, keep looking. you will eventually find it. good luck.

i have a feeling it may be your handbrake cable bracket, it sits just behind the rotor shield and can sometimes rust and break away, then when u go over bumps it hits against the inside of the rotor shield. its difficult to spot at first.

How about the two holed bracket that is welded onto the exhaust downpipe, just under the oil pan? Mine rattled like crazy but only at 3k or so until I hucked it...

Re: RATTLING NOISE. Please help before I kill myself.

I have a 99 Accord that the heat shield around the catalytic converter rattles when it idles. It was somewhat quiet at first but now it is a little out of hand. It's not harming anything so I've been putting off fixing it for a while. If I were you go through and try troubleshooting the problem by taking everything you listed. Get under your car and bang on the piping a little. Good luck. Hope you find your problem before you start pulling hair.

Re: RATTLING NOISE. Please help before I kill myself.

you guys must have misunderstood me. anything with the exhaust is ruled out already. its not the problem. It's somewhere in the rear passenger wheel or really really close to it. I've already had my car up on a lift and banged on the whole exhaust and heat shield. That's why I had my cat taken out because it was rattling but it didnt fix the problem at all.

thanks for the advice Blond1wd, R8GYY, and CTLude. I will try it out. Any other advice anyone?

okay well boy do I feel retarded. I guess the guy who did my brakes forgot to put the clip back on the one side. The thing is I could have sworn I checked this but I guess not. Off to Honda tomorrow to buy the clip and the rattling should stop! thanks guys for all your help.
