Icon2 How Do I Install HID'S on My 5th Gen???

I know how everything hooks up...I was just wondering...The stock headlight housing has a little metal piece that goes around the stock headlight, but the stock headlight has an adapter piece...On the hid headlamp it does not have this adapter piece so the metal spring does not hold the bulb in place ...Has anyone else had this issue? If so could you explain how you managed to get yours in there? I would really appreciate it!! Thanks!!

Re: How Do I Install HID'S on My 5th Gen???

The HID bulb should have a plastic ring that kinda hangs off. That's what holds the bulb with the metal clip... but in reality your suppose to just twist it in IF you have retrofits...

Re: How Do I Install HID'S on My 5th Gen???

What is the plastic ring you guys speak of? LOL. On the headlight housing or the HID kit? Because my HID's do not have a plastic ring? I was kinda thinking today of using maybe a washer from home depot? Or something I just wanted a easier solution with the parts already exsisting on my prelude!! Thanks for the feedback so far guys! Keep it comming!

Re: How Do I Install HID'S on My 5th Gen???

FYI, you'll probably fail your inspection with plug-n-play HID kits. I tricked them with my HID retrofits (they look OEM).

Re: How Do I Install HID'S on My 5th Gen???

Yea I just bent that metal clip until it held the bulb in place.

and I failed my inspection cuz of the lights. I had to go buy normal bulbs and ghetto rig them to work with some paper clips cuz I didn't have that stock adapter. It was a pain in the ass.

Re: How Do I Install HID'S on My 5th Gen???

Oh and also should I unscrew the metal ring and pull it out to bend it better or were you guys just able to bend it while it was already around the stock headlight housing?

Re: How Do I Install HID'S on My 5th Gen???

I left it in there and bent it to make the HID fit.

When I had to put a stock bulb in without the adapter to pass inspection, I had to take it out to be able to bend it to hold the bulb in.

We're talking about the state inspection. I'm in Texas. I have to do it once a year I think, some states don't require it.

Hey guys, are any of y'all able to get a good cut off with HID's in? Mine only light up about 25 feet in front of me. I could sit there and turn the stock adjusters all night and nothing happens.
