how many is too many?

Well I'm still new to this Lude game but iv had mine for a bit now and I want to start work on the engine. Only thing is it has 160k miles on it. I know its a Honda and made to run forever but if the next 100k on it are gonna be fast and hard is it still worth it to put money into or just wait till next summer to do a jdm swap. I'm poor so I don't want to pay for the jdm then put money into it but Idk if this engine is good for a lot longer?

Re: how many is too many?

yea 160k is nothing. if you start saving for another engine and turbo an you take care of the current one, by the time it dies out you will have more then enough to get a jdm engine and a turbo set up.
side note an honda auto tranny will die out faster then a manual, but the engines can go 400k+ if taken care of.

Hey guys, Seriously just started PZ but i might as well add to this, I am a huge Prelude fan I mean HUGE, (Honda in general). I can vouch for myself that your little 160K miles, (while isn't anything to sneeze at) is nothing to worry about like Flyerfolife stated, these cars where and still are designed to last for life. My 92 Lude, Even being the Lemon, (IMO) of the 4th gens, is still a pretty one at that, still she has 263,XXX miles already under her belt, and she's an automatic and going strong! But like mentioned above a backup JDM Engine and boost system set laying in the ol' garage just incase wouldn't be a bad idea. :D

P.S. - I'm obviously new to this whole thing so if there is anything I stated wrong above or the fact that my writing style is too this or that please tell me. I think we all know how Internet Trolls can be at times so if you can help it would be greatly apreciated. Oh and I didn't mention my 92 Lude, She's all Stock! :) Hope I helped Guys!

Re: how many is too many?

Thank you guys, not to seem like a little wuss and what not, (Lack of a better term xP) but going on this huge fan base website and not having any connections kind of intemidated me a bit! I'm glad to see though that everyone seems very kind and welcoming as we all should be, I mean we are all Prelude Brothers and Sisters right? :)

Re: how many is too many?

^^definitely my favorite new member. Lol. Dont be intimidated bro. We dont bite.

As for the op, like upsluder said. Do a compression test first. Yes these motors can last a very very long time, but you still need to make sure that your motor is in good health. If the compression test comes out fine, go ahead and start building it or whatever your looking to do.

When I first came across this post, I expected a thread-jacker. Instead, I read the single best first post I've personally ever read. Dude, I must say that you rock. As to your second post, don't be afraid of us.I promise that we don't bite. We're all pretty friendly here, and we're looking for exactly the same thing that you are looking for: advice and friends with the same passion. So welcome to Prelude Zone, my friend! Hey mods, can we set this as an example as a perfect first post and display it somewhere?

To zac- Do exactly what ups said. If the compression test reveals that motor is in good shape now, and you take care of her, she's pretty much guaranteed to last a long time, and be able to handle most anything you throw at her.

Re: how many is too many?

If someone quotes that huge post one more time.... Rofl

Welcome to pz fellows. Any Honda engine with TLC will last. Even these new ones in the dealership. While checking the compression, open the oil cap and peer inside there with a flashlight to check oil sludge deposits / buildup. If it's silvery and golden, you're good.

The only thing that bites here is our sarcasm.
