Icon14 EGR Valve Success

so instead of just posting up another problem or question ima post some good news up. today i spent a part of my day with a uncle fiddling around with my car to get the EGR valve cleaned out and man it was easy to take off except for one bolt, the the one closest to the air intake! we ended up getting that sucker off but man was it a mission! after that CEL code was cleared and looks as if everything looking pretty good. gonna try and tackle the EGR ports next but all in Due time.

Nice man just cleaned mine the other day. I kinda feel like I'm getting better gas mileage, but its probably just in my heads.

its all pretty simple the only hard part i encountered was the bolts on the egr valve. make sure you keep all the bolts and screws safe though so you dont lose any of them.

Re: EGR Valve Success

What kind of problem did you have? Mine easily unbolted with a long socket.

Why didn't you do the EGR and the ports at the same time?

Will I need to purchase some kind of gasket that goes between the valve and IM?

i dont really have much experience working on my car so i decided to tackle a simple job first. i also have to get around to buying the kit to clean out and put in the new ports. plus the whole thought of drilling into the manifold kinda made me nervous lol but sooner or later ima have to do it because the valve was incredibly dirty with carbon so i cant imagine how the ports must be with carbon build up.
