Changing New clutch? is it worth it?

Hey fourms so i recently brought a prelude sh 99 and the clutch was worn out but it could of last several more months but just yesterday I burn out the clutch now its at my friends shop and he says it needs and new clutch and a flywheel and he said to do everything around 1000-1500 he trying to look for another shop to do it but he says its around that price because of labor and hes telling me that i should sell the car instead of doing everything because i brought the car at 3.1 salvage and i could only sell it around 1k-2k if im lucky but everything is runs good but now its the clutch and Im not sure what to do right now any suggestions i dont want to sell the car because i really enjoy driving it but 1500 to change it is way over my budget and i live in honolulu hawaii so if any1 knows any shops can do it for cheap plz lmk

Re: Changing New clutch? is it worth it?

run on sentence ftw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyhoo, you might be able to have the flywheel resurfaced, which will save you some dough. buuuuuuuuuuut, its gonna cost for someone else to replace clutch, especially on a SH because you gotta drop the ATTS unit. thats mainly why it costs so much to do.

if you are mechanically inclined, you could do it yourself and save a couple hundie easy. you arent going to find a clutch too cheap though. i paid 700 for mine. but there are cheaper routes. just be careful with the ebay specials.

What a great friend you have to charge you for work lol! Anyway I paid around $256 on ebay for my Exedy clutch+fidenza 8lb flywheel, Biglegs you must have a racing clutch for $700 lol.

Re: Changing New clutch? is it worth it?

Nothing wrong with ebay sellers just check their feedback history. I've acquired many name brand items using them, oh yeah, don't get boned on the shipping cost. PLUS!! Exedy made the stock clutches for our cars, it should be easy to find a replacement.
