Debating new engine or new car

Basically going to need to replace my engine soon (It's at 190,000km) and I think there's a bit of knocking. I was thinking of either doing a direct swap or a new car. I was considering other kinds of swaps (K20, Type-S and whatnot) but I don't find it's really worth it at this moment. It comes down to either me selling it off for about $7k? (no rust, is that too high?) and picking up a 4 door TSX or pulling the engine and throw in another H22A4. Tranny might go soon. I can't tell. It doesn't feel as powerful as it did anymore... Suggestions? Comments? I've always wanted a TSX :(

New car man, I just went through that SAME debate today with my car and bought a 95 hatch. Real clean.

Re: Debating new engine or new car

I've already been offered $6k on the first day of posting. Basically car is all done and almost everything replaced. The engine isn't bad it's just for me to enjoy it fully I would do an engine swap. I can drive it through the winter if I really needed to be I'm really digging the 04-05 TSX.

I like the rsx but would stick to my prelude...I think she knows when I look at other cars, she tends to act up when I do.

Re: Debating new engine or new car

new engine, you have had that car for a while, you know what you've done to it. The cost of an engine swap outweighs the cost of getting a tsx even if it's used. I do like the TSX but if you're only choice is automatic, forget it. Your money though, so do as you please.

Re: Debating new engine or new car

Haha. I'm looking into something new. It's a real inconvenience for my family since we already have two 2door cars. I might ride my car out through the summer and see how it is. Also not a big fan of the fact that every ricer at a redlight tries to race me. Love my Prelude but I'd love an automatic, especially through those winters.

Re: Debating new engine or new car

Type s and m2b4 tranny. End of debate and story. LSD owns. Screw the ricers, screw the auto tranny. The minute you get rid of it for an auto, you will hate the decision you made. If, and I stress if, you do sell it, put the cash down on a down payment on a new car with warrenty. Like a tl type s. Six cyl, six speed. I also kinda dig the new turbo accords!! 6-7k is a really nice down payment.

Re: Debating new engine or new car

If I were to get any car it'd be used and it'd be either a TSX or TL 04-05 model. Can't afford new ones and I'm not a big fan of the new style either.

Re: Debating new engine or new car

$6-7K is also a good downpayment on a 2007 STi. Aspen white, AWD, 6-Speed, Turbo...

I'm 18 so the last thing I can do is afford the insurance on a Turbo STI. lol

Re: Debating new engine or new car

I don't really want to let her go but the amount of work I have to put into it might not be worth it. No one in my family can drive stick either so it's a hassle. I'll see what I can really get for it and I'll look around. A TSX or TL would be perfect.
