Best excuse for no front plate

so im from nj and the cops in my area are jerks about not having a front plate. i used to not have one till i got a warning and i showed my f.o.p card and got off the hook. but i wanted to know if anybody has some good excuses for not having one. for example i think i'm gonna use the," the bracket is on backorder from japan" next time i decide to take off my front plate and a cop stops me.. but what else you guys got?!

An excuse only works the first time the cop sees you. Chances are you will be seen again by the inquiring officer who wont appreciate your deception. I have a friend who is married to a cop. They hold grudges.

haha that state trooper got super butthurt the third time he pulled me over for a license plate cover. We can legaly drive a tracked car/truck on the roads here (aka tank) but cant have a plate cover. right?

75$ later - I no longer have a black plate cover...

How dare you be able to beat the red light and private security cameras with your reflective plastic coverings on your license plates that the state/county makes massive revenues on without the old school manpower it once needed to do so!

Haha I'm in Wyoming. We have none of those things. Still get tickets the old fashioned way here. Reminds me - I still need to pull apart my radar jammer and see if I can split it up and hide it somewhere.

Re: Best excuse for no front plate

I just take the ticket and when I get home, I put the license plate on my car with nails just so it doesn't fall off. then i take a picture and send it back with my ticket and plead not guilty, then take it off and a few weeks later... "you're case has been dropped", has worked twice for me, also works for cell phone tickets, buy a bluetooth send the ticket back not guilty with the receipt and you're case should get dropped ;-)

There really is no valid excuse. I had mine stolen in April, thought it fell off, they racked up $850 in parking violations before I found out about it. Yay!

Re: Best excuse for no front plate

Haha I've been driving around with no front plate for 2 years now. Got pulled over for speeding last year and the cop saw it chillin in the passenger door pocket where I keep it. Told him I don't have the bracket for it (which I don't). Didn't write me up for it though.

Re: Best excuse for no front plate

trust me dude, i'm from jersey too, and it's just a thousand times easier to keep the plate on and deal with it.

on my first car (true story) i got it back from the body shop with the new WWRS lip kit installed and painted with a CF hood, so that's the excuse that i used, which worked once, but not the other 3-4 times. i eventually got fed up enough to just put the plate back on. i was even getting harassed for it being in the front windshield.

then with the boosted lude and STi, i don't need ANY other reasons to get pulled over, so i don't even mess with plates, smoked heads/tails, etc etc etc....

Re: Best excuse for no front plate

the good thing about living in north Texas is we have lots of ppl from Oklahoma that come down and they don't have front front plates up there so they tend to just assume that ur from there most of the time.

yeah i get you man, but i just love how it looks with it off. i only got stopped for it once and i wasnt even speeding and idk if your familiar with the town scotch plains, well its a bunch of stuck up cops that have nothing better to do and he stopped me with my mom in the car lol. so if it wasnt for that i woulda still kept it off but she told me to put it on once we got home. but i took it off again today and if i get stopped again for it then i guess ill jst leave it on for good. and im from union and the cops arent that bad its just when i go into other towns.. im driving with the bracket thats on the bottom two screws and if they ask why i dont have it on ill just say im waiting for a new one of these or something..

thanks for the excuses tho everyone lol

Re: Best excuse for no front plate

Like 2 weeks ago, I got pulled over for no front license plate, and modified exhaust. I wasn't speeding or doing anything illegal. My license plate was in my window, clearly visible, and at the time I didn't have my license lol. He took my information down, and came back and said, make sure you have your license next time bud... and I was off the hook! haha
