Icon5 Honda Prelude Spyder Body Kit Duraflex

Hi I recently bought another honda with a spyder body kit. I recently noticed that whoever the guy I bought the car from, had put the body kit on, they didn't know what they were doing and put the back and front bumper on too tight.

Here's the first set of pictures for my first question:

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I haven't hit anything (not with the back bumper at least). I was driving and heard this *bump* and stopped the car, got out to inspect, and to my amazement...this is what i see! I'm beyond pissed because it also has a crack in it now. On to the question is:

2 screws stripped out and will no longer stay in so I know I need new screws (I'll have to take pics but the main one is a long flat head, looks like half a screw and half a nail. The guy at auto zone said they were called tap screws or something.) But where do I find them? And what kind are used? Is it easy to do myself?
I've already looked at autozone and they didn't have it at that particular one. I don't know if all auto zones are the same. But I need to fix it asap because I can't drive my car without it.

I also have some other questions about the body kit but I want to take pictures to explain my problem later. But if anyone might have an answer or any sort of clue I would really appreciate it. If you need anymore info just let me know.

Re: Honda Prelude Spyder Body Kit Duraflex

Go to home depot or lowe's that have all sorts of screws

You might be better off getting a clip that a screw can thread into.

Re: Honda Prelude Spyder Body Kit Duraflex

its not that the body kit is too tight, its that those bodykits are about the worst quality, worst fitting, biggest PITA to fit correctly and look good on any car.

which is why bodykits < everything.

Re: Honda Prelude Spyder Body Kit Duraflex

yeah I'm not too fond of the body kit. Definitely wouldn't have been one I would have put on. But thk u for your answers! I went to Lowes 3 times, because they had no idea what i was talking about even after I showed him what the screw looked like. I finally found a screw that fit. It's still not exactly the right screw as it's not a flat head but it was the perfect size to make it stay on.

well it is put on too tight. especially the front bumper. It's on so tight that the front bottom part of the front bumper is bowing, and nothing is flush with the car. when I went up a driveway (slowly of course) it pushed the bumper up underneath the fender and has torn it and now is spiderwebbing all the way to the headlights. So I'm gonna end up having to buy a whole new fender and possibly buy the stock bodykit and put it back on, or put a better one on there. make sure I get someone who knows what they're doing.

take that crap off of your car and get some oem bumper covers. If you want a decent quality body kit, we'll try to direct you toward one.

like i said, maybe if the body kit was designed/built for quality instead of quantity it would fit better and not look so ghetto.
but since those cheap bodykits companies only care about taking your hard-earned money they lure you you in with their cheap prices, and once you try bolting it on the first time and realize how shiitttyy it fits, they already have your money.

I wasn't the one who chose this body kit. I bought it with the kit already on there. So technically I wasn't out money on this particular body kit. But it's going to cost me money to get the crap off and get another one. I wasn't really fond of the kit when I bought the car, but that's not why I bought it. I hate this kit so much but I guess I'm stuck with it till I'm able to buy another one. You took the words right out of my mouth when you said "ghetto" cause that's exactly how I felt.

It makes me miss my old prelude. It was an original stock and was in great condition till my boyfriend totaled it (cries).

I hate bodykits on preludes for some reason cause they look out of place.. Did you try asking the dude if he still had the oem one to save you some money?

you know what I didn't think about asking him about that. I'll give him a shout. The only thing is I live in Memphis and he's in Nashville. But anyway...thx!

Re: Honda Prelude Spyder Body Kit Duraflex

it was definitely a shotty paint job. Probably an ecno one. Because after I got it home and really started inspecting the car there was a lot of little bubbles all around the car. So i know I'm going to have paint pealing soon so I need to start saving up some money for a good paint job on top of everything else.
