Car runs HOT with A/C on????

Hey guys i just recently noticed that when i drive my car around with no a/c everything is fine but when with the a/c on the temp needle slowly creeps up.I,ve never let it get high enough to overheat for but this is really frustrating and it's hot as hell here in GA. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Both fans are working and I'm going to try bleeding the system today. Other than that I don't really know what else to do. The radiator is new I replaced it in december.

Re: Car runs HOT with A/C on????

try the easiest and cheapest (free) solution first; see if there's air bubbles in the system and bleed them out.
you know the t-stat is opening?

Re: Car runs HOT with A/C on????

i just followed the steps from the drain/bleed DIY thread and after leaving the car running for about an hour the fans never kicked on so I'm pretty sure its the t-stat seeing as the fans did come on when i turned on the a/c

Re: Car runs HOT with A/C on????

if the lower hose never gets hot, your t-stat isn't opening for some reason.
again, an air bubble can prevent the t-stat from opening.

also to test the OTHER fan for operation, disconnect the green connector either under the dizzy, or on the t-stat housing (i forget), and jumper it with a paper clip. the pass side fan SHOULD come on.

Re: Car runs HOT with A/C on????

Do you have an aftermarket header? If it doesn't have a ceramic coating or heat wrap you may be getting some heat soak. Also, you might try insulating the A/C lines, won't help your over heating issues but it will make the A/C air cooler.

Ride with the heater on, all the mechanics I've ever talked to or my family has ever delt with has said to do that if the car is overheating to help relieve heat from the car.
