Figures..... Transmission help?

well it figures more issues with the lude. I am getting a chattering noise when my car is in neutral. But the second i push the clutch to the floor the noise goes away. i have been told its my input shaft bearing, pilot bearing or throwout bearing. i know the throwout bearing comes in a clutch kit and i was going to replace it with an exedy clutch. Any ideas if i should stay with the oem clutch or upgrade? Also anyone know where I can get the input shaft bearing and pilot bearing. i figure if i am in there replaceing my clutch i might as well fix the other possible problems. and any other ideas what it could be? Thanks for your help.

Re: Figures..... Transmission help?

You only need the throwout bearing which usually comes with new clutch kits.

If you are running stock just get the exedy oem clutch. If you are tuning get a stage 1, 2, 3, depending on your hp/tq.

I can not confirm if the chattering is from the pilot bearing, hopefully someone else can add to this thread.

Re: Figures..... Transmission help?

Im having a similar problem the infamous "Wooden chair scuffing a wooden floor sound" when i engage the clutch into first or neutral.. Thats the typical sound from the throwout bearing. Im going to just upgrade to a stage 1 clutch since i just have basic mods.

Im going to tear the transmission out soon to see if i can identify the problem instead of guessing. What has anyone heard of xtd clutch kits? Are they reliable? good or crap? Thanks for the input.

Re: Figures..... Transmission help?

I just got a xtd flywheel. From reviews I seen online it can go both ways good and bad stories. I believe if you follow the break in procedure you should be fine.

I'll soon find out once i get my swap done.
