5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

I bought my lude with a cracked crank pulley and before I go at it with an impact wrench and pry bars, I wanted to buy a pulley puller from Harbor Frieght and needed to know what size the pulley is. The pulley pullers come in different sizes and I just needed to know which one to buy.

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

You wont need a pulley puller. Once you have the bolt out it comes right off.

You are going to need the HEX tool to keep the crank from spinning

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

The crank pully bolt is 19mm, the pully holder (which I assume you are talking about) is 50mm.

You can use the same bolt...

The crank shaft seal should be replaced if it is leaking or has not been replaced.

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

Supposedly the guy who did the timing belt cracked the crank pulley when he did it and it like wobbles a little when it runs, I'm scared to drive it until its fixed. I can see it through the driver side tire.

You can rent a tool at O'Reilly's. considering you only use it once every few years, it may not be worth it to buy.

Pepboys also lets you buy a tool, use it then return it for a refund. Its how they "rent" tools.

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

And it needs to be a 50 mm, and I need to get the engine timed or should I buy the cam lock tool as well? I'm trying to do this the cheap and safest way possible.

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

I just changed my timing belt and the only "special" tool I used was the crank pulley holder. A cam lock tool would make things easier, but not entirely necessary.

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

I rented a tool just like that for the crank pulley at Honda and it wouldnt fit in the space due to the handle being awkward.

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

So if I do this right, I shouldn't have to retime the engine?

the left motor mount needs to be removed, and the block dropped down about an inch or two. allows more room between the fender and pulley.

well, to remove the crank pully, you will need to remove the timing belt...so I hope you are changing that too. it would be wise to confirm the lineup with your new pulley and cam gears. so if that is what you mean by re-time, then yes.

The timing belt was just replaced less than 100 miles ago.

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

I bought that tool for $25 off amazon, no one around here rented it out. You could probably reuse the belt if there a no cracks or oil on it since its still a virgin.

Re: 5th gen h22a4 crank pulley

What's wrong with harbor freight?

I've had good, reliable, inexpensive parts purchased from them.

No one said to buy a pulley from them, he was asking about tools, and they don't even have automotive parts. Its a bloody tool company!
