All of my exterior and interior lights dont work

Correction: With the exception of the dome lights, headlights and highbeams, all of my exterior and interior lights do not work.

I had leds in my parking lights and i was switching them to a slightly brighter led. I switched out one and test it and everything was good. Then i switched the other, tested it, and none of the lights turned on. Hooked to this switch are the parking lights, side markers, rear tail lights, dash lights/console lights, and rear license plate lights.

What are my steps to fix this?! I need to go somewhere and its getting dark, without any dash lights I wont be able to see?!

Re: All of my exterior and interior lights dont work

first off, don't use any LED's in your parking lights in your headlight housing. the heat from your headlights/high beams are known to melt the LED bulbs. more common if you use your high beams a lot...

anyways. i've had an identical problem a while back. i've seen this problem occur several times on preludes. it's been covered several times on here too. i can't find them in a search right now.. and i can't remember what it is that was causing the problem. when i had the issue it was before i switched to LED's in the parking lights. what was actually found was a burnt/frayed wire in the dash. that wire ran directly into the headlight switch. something else that COULD cause it is simply a fuse. check your fuses. it could also be a relay.

Re: All of my exterior and interior lights dont work

Figured it out
When i put the leds in the wire was slightly crossed and shorted the whole system
went through the fuse outline and found that it was fuse #10 for all of those things
and luckily (since its dark now) there was a spare fuse so all is good.
Yeahh I heard that the leds can melt but I thought I'd risk it anyway since they were cheap, had those ones in since sept and they seem pretty intact? Anyways problem solved and the new leds are in

lucky it wasnt a frayed wire that sounds way worse :| and yeah i was really scared that it was a relay

Re: All of my exterior and interior lights dont work

yeah lucky it was something simple.

just be careful with them LED's. check them often. i think it might have just been a coincidence. because i've had this issue happen to me more than once... the 2nd time was after i put in the LED's. i had also found a wire right at the parking light connector with a slight deterioration (melting). anyways the same day i noticed my LED's melting was RIGHT AFTER all the following happened... driving home at 3am after a night of sin and debauchery in the pouring down rain, i hit a nice puddle that splashes up on that melted wire (didn't know it was melted yet) all i knew was my gauge lights went out.. thought it was just some random fluke... little did i know it cut out my tail lights as well. so 3am, pouring down rain, no tail lights.. surprised i didn't get pulled over. anywho. yeah, i got home and immediately noticed my parking and tail lights were out too. so i pop the hood and everything behind the pax side headlight was drenched. i found a blown fuse. dried up the wet spots and replaced the fuse. turned the lights back on and almost immediately see smoke.. sure enough i found some burnt wires. like i said don't know if it had anything to do with the melting LED's. i pulled the socket out of the back of the headlight to get a better look at the wires and lo and behold the led was melted. pulled the driver side one and it was worse.

so yeah, check them often.
