STILL hesitating!!!

so my car has ben hesitating for forever now. at one point it started throwin a cel so i finally tried to fix it. i cleaned the egr valve and it seemed to clear up and the cel went away. few days later it starts doing it again and it has gradually gotten worse. so i finallly got around to finishing the egr port cleaning last weekend and it made no difference. just wondering where i should go next, would a valve adjustment help? my car has almost 170k on it. time for a compression test? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Re: STILL hesitating!!!

Well first off telling us what code you are throwing would help us out a lot. Are you sure you cleaned the egr and the ports well? I would definitely do a compression test, change plugs/wires, test out your dizzy, maybe change your cap and rotor, try seafoam, and that should be a good start

just something simple to check, make sure your wires are on right.
i've put mine on wrong when changing them before, it can be an easy mistake.

Re: STILL hesitating!!!

the wires will only go to the right plug due to the length and i did them one by one so that wouldnt happen. will a valve adjustment make a difference with such high milage? i heard somewhere that it wont i think. im kinda scared to do a compression test lol

Re: STILL hesitating!!!

well a bad valve lash will affect compression over a long time so if they've been out of spec for awhile it could cause your issue

id do the valve adjustment anyways - i did one and it didnt fix my issue but if you leave it too long the valves will burn and they will need to be replaced
